Supreme Court refuses potentially landmark gun-control case

The US Supreme Court on Monday turned down the appeal of a Maryland man who said the state’s restrictive gun-permit law violated his constitutional right to carry a firearm in public for self defense.

The case, Williams v. Maryland, was being closely followed because it might have set the stage for another potential landmark Second Amendment decision by the high court.

The justices did not explain why they rejected the appeal, but the action does not end the possibility of a gun-rights case reaching the court this term. The Supreme Court is awaiting briefs in at least one other gun case, and several other Second Amendment cases are working their way to the Supreme Court.

Or, the suit somehow did not demonstrate how this fellow was harmed by the law he's fighting. A court's definition of 'harm' is not what you find in the dictionary or the annals of Common Sense.

Update - just found some details - Mr. Williams hid a gun in the bushes after he thought the police were coming after him. The police saw him do this, and found the gun.

Now, he may have been totally innocent of any wrongdoing, except violating one or more of Maryland's myriad illegal gun laws by possessing said gun without begging permission from his betters, but hiding a gun in the bushes IS suspicious behavior, and putting a gun where children or mentally impaired people (Demonrats!) might find it is irresponsible.

Really, if we want to crow about Supreme Court cases involving our basic rights, we could at least pick an attractive victim, not some mope who was scared of getting caught carrying in violation of the law who tried, incompetently, to hide the evidence.
