Just got another frantic email from WAVE. This from the link:

Join us in a peaceful protest of the NRA's violent and hateful vision for America. We will gather on the first night of the NRA Carry Guard Expo to remember the lives lost to gun violence and to demonstrate our resolve to live in peace.

Location: Zeidler Union Square Park, 301 W. Michigan St., Milwaukee

NRA's Carry Guard is insurance for you if you carry, in case you have to use your weapon and the person you were defending against - or his/her relatives sue, or the local PD wants to charge you.

Can't hardly see how this is something any sane person would consider needing a protest. But then again, WAVE had kittens because the Wisconsin Center will allow guns.

I'm amazed at the efficiency of the government. The hearing was Thursday, the notification came only two days after!

Thanks to WAVE, I made the hearing. If I had relied on Wisconsin's bureaucracy, I would not have had a chance to register my support to the committee.

Another chance to see a good bill get a chance

AB 427, which would mandate firearms and safety training in Wisconsin schools, will have a public hearing.

It's about time that kids get real facts about guns and gun safety, not just what the MSM and movies provide.

Reckless bill would do away with permit and training requirements for concealed carry

Lawmakers in Wisconsin may hold a public hearing very soon on the dangerous new bill that would allow just about anyone--even people ages 18, 19, and 20--to carry a gun with:

• No Permit.
• No Background Check.  
• No Training.

It’s critical your legislators hear from you today. Tell them to shut this dangerous bill down IMMEDIATELY.

Sorta like criminals in Chicago do every day right now?

My response:

I am writing to urge you to support AB 247 / SB 169, which would eliminate the requirement to obtain a permit to carry a concealed weapon in Wisconsin. This  piece of legislation would return Wisconsin to the true spirit of the law under the Second Amendment of the Constitution.

Wisconsinites already suffer under several un-Constitutional laws, such as the "Handgun Hotline" which requires law-abiding American citizens to request permission from the government to purchase a personal protection device, as guaranteed under that Second Amendment.

Arguments have been made that this legislation will put thousands of guns on the street in the hands of criminals. Well, gun control laws are only obeyed by those individuals who would never abuse their 2nd Amendment right, so allowing good people to exercise their God-given right to self-defense cannot cause any such problems.

Please vote to pass this legislation. Proper "gun control" is education in public school for safety and marksmanship - not retaining laws abhorrent to our Constitution.

Letter to my representatives

I have to thank the Wisconsin Against Violence Effort for the opportunity to let my elected officials know I fully support their proposal to allow concealed carry in schools and universities. For far too long, these places have been rendered "free fire zones" for criminal and lunatics by state and federal laws.

Here's what I sent, using their convenient web page:

I applaud the promise, coming from legislative leaders, to listen to the will of the people. In that spirit, I urge you to listen to me about an issue that is critical to our children’s safety.

I fully support proposals to allow private citizens to carry loaded defensive guns in K-12 schools, colleges, and universities.  Allowing  any law-abiding person to bring a gun into a school will make our children safer. It will decrease the risks they face because at least there will be the possibility of someone present being able to offer a defense in case of another attempt to use a "gun free" zone as a shooting gallery with helpless victims.

I implore you to put the safety of our children first by supporting this common-sense proposal. Thank you for valuing the voices of Wisconsin citizens.

These numbskulls think signs will prevent violence. The examples of every school shooting since the federal law prohibiting guns on school property was enacted does not seem to make them think.

They also want you to pass out cards telling businesses to prohibit effective self-defense:

Let's count the lies:

First, the people of Wisconsin certainly do want guns around - or we wouldn't have overwhelmingly supported Governor Walker in the last leftie-liberal recall election. There wouldn't be over a quarter-million Wisconsinites now possessing a CCW permit, and countless others open-carrying every day.

3 to 1 margin? Perhaps in parts of Milwaukee and Madison!

Inanimate objects put no one at risk at any time. Want to put people at risk? Prohibit fire extinguishers in public places because someone might, someday, abuse one or use one to injure someone else. Let's see some objective evidence of that 5 to 7 times number. Can't show us a link to someone other than a Joyce Foundation mouthpiece? Thought so!

80% of businesses in Chicago, New York City, or San Fransisco, perhaps. I have seen only three places I might want to visit around here that post. The Beloit NAPA, the Beloit Library, and Basics in Janesville. Everywhere else either is happy to see my carrying openly or has ignored me - and when I carry concealed, how does anyone know I have an evil weapon?

I will believe that "thousands" have signed their petitions - after all, these idiots did get a recall election of Governor Walker organized - with lots of out-of-state money and illegal petition signers. Having a liberal Madison judge invalidate our Voter ID law didn't help them. Record turnouts for the right people in most areas.

Personally, I will stick my head in a place that posts and tell anyone within earshot why I cannot come in - and if they want my business, they will lose the stupid sign.

You can rest assured, gun free business, that the bad guys will ignore your sign, if they even bother to read it. They might chuckle as they pull their gun to rob you, though.

Concealed carry bans

Wisconsin law allows private businesses to post "no guns" signs to prohibit legal concealed or open carry on in their buildings.


Do these people ever consider that they are insulting and offending tens of thousands of Wisconsin residents who have proven they are law-abiding by obtaining a CCW license? Tens of thousands of good folks who are exercising their God-given and Constitutionally protected right to self-defense?

I tried to find WAVE's list of banned places at their web site, but the link is gone. Bad publicity?

Dropped off a torn flag at the Beloit VFW hall - and was surprised to see a "no guns" sign on their door. Millions of American veterans died to preserve our rights - and the VFW infringes. There's some irony there.

How many weak-minded people will donate to this cause, so they can "feel safe" when they enter gun-free criminal friendly zones?

Again with "gun violence". Totally ignoring the facts of criminal behavior, and reality.

The best anti-gun-violence tactic I know of is the proper application of legal gun violence to those attacking, to end the attack. If the perpetrator gets hurt or killed in the process, well, they asked for it by initially offering violence in furtherance of a crime.

So far, in my travels around Beloit, I've noticed a dearth of "no guns" signs on businesses I frequent - but then again, I don;t have much desire or reason to enter the kinds of places that would be liable to post - with the exceptions of governmental offices, where I occasionally have business with my employees. It's a comfort that my workers at the Town of Beloit saw reason and refused to post their offices.

More than 60 cities and counties have recently voted to keep guns out of public buildings, the University of Wisconsin has opted to keep guns out of every building on all 26 campuses and concerned citizens have distributed 75,000 SAFE WISCONSIN cards to businesses urging them to keep guns out.

Shall I debunk these idiots?

Yeah. There will be police-mandated gun forcing devices at the doors of every one of these places. In fact, I've got the contract to install these.

Anyone care to give a link to a non-Brady Bunch statistic that supports this? Thought not.

3.    It means guns in bars. What used to end with a few black eyes could now end with guns drawn, shots fired and bystanders killed. 

The many states that allow CCW in places that serve alcohol beg to differ. Reality sucks, don't it?

4.    It’s a threat to workers. When businesses allow guns, workers are 5 to 7 times more likely to be murdered, according to a study from the American Journal of Public Health.

Again, statistics? From someplace not getting funds from the aforementioned Brady Bunch or George Soros?
