Thoughts on Orlando
So, the war we have been ignoring with Islam has come back to America after 15 years.
A Muslim jihadist who may or may not have enjoyed his visits to the Pulse gay club in Orlando finally did his holy duty as a devout Muslim and slaughtered a bunch of infidels involved in acts Allah (and Mohammed, PBUH) don't approve of, in a country described as the Great Satan.
Our "leader", Jugears Osama, can't even be bothered to give a phone call to the governor of Florida - but can call France to discuss the matter. Of course, in hos address to America, Islam and jihad were never mentioned, but sure as shootin', gun control was.
We have Senator Christopher Murphy (D-CT, of course) leading a filibuster in the Senate until that body finally "addresses gun control", as if that would have stopped the terrorist. I actually approve of the filibuster - while these idiots are bloviating, CONgress isn't passing any more infringements on Americans.
Talking heads still refer to the "gunman" - I've never understood this term. You never hear of a "knifeman" or a "batman" (baseball, not DC comic), but every shooting has a "gunman". I guess this is a mutation probably caused by chemtrails.
At least the death toll was almost instantly reduced from 50 to 49, as they deducted the quite justifiable shooting of the perpetrator by police from the list of victims.
I was pleasantly surprised to see an email from Russ Feingold about the atrocity that did not once mentioned guns. He did mention one of them "gunmen", though, and not a word about terror or it's cause.
Since when do we lower the flag after a war crime? Did we lower the flag after Pearl Harbor?
Why has there been exactly zero Muslim religious leaders speaking out against this atrocity if Islam is truly a religion of peace? I've heard a couple Muslims decry the act, but then, Islam instructs the faithful to lie when it advances Islam.
In Madison,Billy Graham's son spoke at a rally, and the lefties were out en masse protesting, since he's a Christian and proposes that we follow the law that has served America well for over 200 years, the law that incidentally happens to correspond with many Bible verses. Some of them had an alternative rally where a Jewish Rabbi spoke out urging acceptance, as did a black reverend. There was a Muslim leader there, who's unspeaking image was flashed as the reporter talked about how this rally was supposed to promote peace. I wonder what that gentleman had to say?
And I see now that today there was at least one attack in Texas at a Wal-Mart by a Muslim terrorist.
We are at war, We need to declare this and immediately take up Mr. Trump's idea about keeping people out who profess adherence to a "religion" that justifies acts like Orlando.

Wisconsin has about 5.760.000 residents.
300,000 of them have concealed carry permits as of the end of March.
So, the bad guys now have a better than 1 in 20 chance of finding an armed "victim". Even better odds if you count only persons over 21, as there are rules about who can get a CCW here.
I hear that violent crime rates are dropping here. I wonder why?

Empty chair
So, Jugears is going to have an "empty chair" next to Moochelle to represent all the "victims of gun violence"
Fitting, as "gun violence" does not exist, so there are no victims.
It would be more fitting to leave an empty seat for all the victims of liberalism, socialism, and government in general...

The intellectual power of the left
A good example of why our colleges are producing so many helpless drones:
OK. Let's dissect this.
"What country fetishizes, lionizes, valorizes, idolizes, and sacralizes guns as much as does our United States? OK, possibly Mozambique — the only country with an AK47 on its flag, but really, it's long past time to end this obsessive "My Precious" attachment of Americans to instruments of death."
Americans are not obsessed with guns. Even the "gun nuts" like me are not obsessed - we have full lives outside of our hobby. The persons with the obsessions are those like Mr. Hastings who haven't a clue about history or our country's origins, or freedom for that matter.
"This morning of Dec. 25, 2014, of the nine top stories from US Reuters, six were about shootings — four new ones and two about the national movement against shootings of citizens by police. This pandemic of sick violence, punctuated by mass killings of children, has gone on far, far too long. It is long past time to repeal the stupid Second Amendment."
A bit of fact-checking - the Washington Times reports:
"The fate of the Second Amendment should have been sealed when the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in 2008 that past rulings by their predecessors were wrong, that in fact the amendment that provided for a "well regulated militia" really guaranteed every individual the right to own a gun. Wow. That is an interesting reading of the English language. What the Supremes have done is to not only warp the meaning and make it into twisted law, but to further prohibit states and local governments from declaring their places free of legal guns. The conservative court once again rules against the power of states, a principle that used to be associated with darn liberals who wanted to make sure everyone had the right to vote, for example, even though they weren't properly white enough. Now when a city or state wants to outlaw firearms, too bad. The conservatives took away their powers and rights in favor of Big Brother."
I have to agree with the first sentence - after the 2008 ruling, ALL gun laws in America should have been declared null and void, as they are all in violation of the Second Amendment. Unfortunately, the Supreme Court chickened out on calling a spade a spade and allowed room for "common sense" gun control.
The "well regulated militia" clause is there as a reason that the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed - not the fact that a militia needs to be "regulated" in what arms it might bear. At the time of the Revolution, cannons were WMDs and were owned by private citizens, who organized artillery militia groups. Private citizens also operated naval ships. The modern equivalent would be fighters and bombers and whatever ammunition they require.
The Constitution was put in place to limit the power of first, the federal government, and secondly, the power of the states, to enact laws infringing on the rights of the people, from whence all power flows in our country - at least, that is how it was supposed to be. The Supreme Court has ignored thousands of instances of federal and state overstepping since 1776. They almost got the 2008 ruling right.
It's interesting that he mentions voting rights and liberals in the same breath - the "liberals" were the ones fighting desegregation in the 1960's right up until LBJ made his famous "we'll have those "n****rs" voting Democrat for the next 100 years" comment - at which point they were all for the idea.
I wonder if this goofus has even heard of George Orwell. It's obvious he has no idea who "Big Brother" was.
"The only logical path, given the clearly decided role of the Second Amendment, is to repeal it. American people are tired of mass shootings and police shootings and family feud shootings and sibling shootings and accidental toddler shootings and teen suicide by gun (highly popular).We are exhausted by the proliferation of death, of threats, of bloodshed, and by the NRA/gun industry moral garbage spewing forth every time someone challenges the ubiquity of guns."
How about some statistics?
Mass shootings are comparatively rare in this country, and are overwhelmingly committed by "liberal" leaning persons.
The NRA is not the "gun industry".
A perfect solution to violence is to disarm the innocent. This idea alone ought to cause his employers in Portland to fire him for abject stupidity. He's probably tenured, though.
"Repeal the Stupid Second Amendment. Surround it, grab it, bring it in the back room, pull down the shades, and end it. OK, petition for it, get it on the ballot, and get it done by enough of the US populace, by enough people in enough states, to get it consigned to the dustbin of history."
Let's do that. And then we can see how much you like living under the real "Big Brother".
Luckily for America, the people evidently have seen past people like Mr. Hastings, as polls now show a majority of people are in favor of a truly liberal interpretation of the Second Amendment - just like it was meant to be read.

A taste:
Very simple solution - get rid of politicians and intelligentsia who think there are "simple" solutions to the problems they have generated over the last 70 years. Educate the young about responsibility and proper handling of firearms, starting in kindergarten. Most of all, follow the basic law of the United States - the Constitution - as it is written and was intended. The Second Amendment means exactly what it says, and there was no National Guard when it was written.
"Make guns more expensive in high-crime areas"? Brilliant. That black market has existed ever since the very first "gun control law" was enacted, and the low income people who need protection are priced out of the market. Real smart.
Perhaps we should look at root causes - family destruction via the "war on poverty", lack of moral education and self reliance, and the eternal "war on drugs" that fuels most of the violence in places like Chicago

Gateway crime

I'm sure that every Chicago policeman, including my father, if he was still on this plane, would be surprised to know that as part of their duty, they were participating in the furtherance of murder...
Political appointees like McCarthy do not speak for the police - they speak for the mayor and the ruling political party - and the Demonrats will NEVER admit the fact that more guns in the hands of law-abiding people will bring a decrease in crime.
Celebrating "only 400-odd" murders as a good thing is insane. None of the guns involved in those murders acted alone - each was wielded by a criminal.

One intent on doing everything in his power to maintain a monopoly of violence, including playing the race card when it suits his purposes…

The law IS the problem - the law that tries to fix systemic problems with society by preventing law-abiding folks defending themselves, blaming inanimate objects.

How many were sold on the street after being "liberated" from the Chicago Police Department's evidence lockers?

Light a Candle to Stop Violence
I'm going to get behind this.
Light A Candle To Stop Violence
So the Brady Bunch are planning Candle-light vigils on January 8th to “Stop Gun Violence”. Now many have pointed out what a stupid and pointless gesture that is, also many are noting the dwindling numbers of people willing to come out in the cold with a candle for the sake of their lost cause.
I propose a display that will show we have the same goals, but our side is actually interested in results.
So on January 8th I ask everybody to post a picture of a lit candle and you carry gun. Because lit candles don’t do a whole lot but cast a meager amount of light…but a loaded gun in the hands of lawful citizens can do wonders to protect innocent lives from harm.
Also “Gun Violence” is a bogus and made-up term, so on January 8th I ask you all to light a candle to stop VIOLENCE, and show you have the means to do just that.
Do this across blogs, facebook, photo accounts, twitter, and any other means. I suspect with a little spreading of the word we can easily dwarf the anti-freedom effort, as well as make the world a safer place!

Chicgo still struggling to understand common sense

The mother of a slain 16-year-old teen, Nance-Holt was among a handful of people last week speaking out against carrying a concealed handgun during a West Side town hall meeting. She lost her son, Blair, to gun violence in May 2007 when a teen fired shots into a crowded CTA bus. Blair Holt was killed while four others were wounded. At an Aug. 31, town hall hosted by state Rep. LaShawn Ford (D-8), Nance-Holt said greater access to guns does not equal increased safety. "Had everyone had a gun on the bus that day, there would have been a whole lot more people dead besides my son," she said. "So I understand that people are scared...but I lost everything, and I still don't want a gun." ++++++++++++++++++++++ She has the absolute right to not own a gun, of course. This is supposed to be a free country, and the government never forces us to purchase things we don't want, don't need, or find morally offensive. Oops - this is supposed to be about words and the warping thereof. The left has coined the phrase "gun violence" and reporters have been trained to parrot this catch phrase whenever someone gets shot or a criminal uses a gun. "Gun violence" takes a step back from the true perpetrator of the crime and transfers responsibility for the violent act to an inanimate object, rather than resting full responsibility on the human being that used a tool to aid in committing a crime. Honesty in reporting requires the reporter to use terms like "alleged" "suspect" and "charged" rather than naming the person(s) responsible directly as such. Using the term "gun violence" takes this literally correct avoidance of directly accusing the perpetrator to a whole new level - the perp is now just another victim of "gun violence". Let's get real. How likely is a gangbanger to pull a gun in an area where he or she KNOWS that there are possibly a few dozen armed responders? Looking at the numbers from all the other states with citizens allowed self-defense tools shows unequivocally that more guns DOES equate to less violence, Brady Bunch propaganda and lies aside. Greater access to guns may not translate into increased safety, but denying the people their unalienable right to defend themselves definitely causes less safety and enables more violence. "Programs to prevent gun violence" - even if such a phenomenon existed, I dare someone to show me ONE governmental program that actually prevented any crime ever in the recorded history of humanity. Governmental programs at best educate people about danger and how to avoid it. Most of them simply waste money and provide employment for people who would otherwise be unemployable or on welfare. I would rather such folk continue to take welfare rather than build up the bureaucracy needed to give them jobs in the "program". Get over it, Chicago. The Second Amendment means what it says, and by arguing otherwise, you are directly enabling more violence in your city.
