Interview with the mystery man's associates

Interview: Obama Had Marxist Vision For US At Occidental College

obama_youth_09_2

Has anyone ever been interested in President Obama’s ideological past? What were Obama’s beliefs while he was at Occidental? Several interviews by Dr. John Drew during the 2008 campaign cycle gave some insight, but few were interested at that time in what Obama really believed when he attended Occidental College. (See “Meeting Young Obama” and “Even Republicans Rejected Info About Obama’s Past” at www.americanthinker.com/john_drew/). Dr. Drew wrote, “Meeting Obama”, about Obama and his ideology about taking the United States over and making it fail so the, “revolution” could in his article “Meeting Young Obama” on February 24, 2011. He clearly remembers what Obama stated, in his own words, “Like it was yesterday”. Obama espoused without hesitation, “There’s going to be a revolution,” saying, “we need to be organized and grow the movement.” This is disturbing due to the fact what our nation is going through right now drives it to the edge of failure; just what the young Obama stated he wanted to accomplish in 1980: the end of capitalism in the United States.

Miracle!

Bill Whittle does it again!

The "hidden hand" aiding him - who does it belong to?

Vehicle maintenance

In the past two months, I've done quite a bit of needed repairs on various vehicles.

I rebuilt the C5 transmission in my 1984 F150. First American automatic I've ever touched - and it runs like new. If it lasts as long as the inline 6 I rebuilt in the same truck - 28,000 miles - I'll be happy.

Put a new steering gear in my 1991 VW Vanagon. Ended up replacing all the hard lines to it, as the originals finally disintegrated from rust - the torsion of disconnecting them snapped 'em right off. All the Bus needs now is a good brake bleeding, and some body work.

The local golf cart shop near Rockford had a used motor just like the one I have with the chewed-up crankshaft - $100. Had to transfer the piston and cylinder from the original motor to the new one as the new one had a destroyed piston. It ran great until the centrifugal clutch / spring loaded pulley transmission started throwing the big belt. The aluminum spring-loaded driven pulley's thrust collar disintegrated - so I made a new one out of steel. My wife now can get to the back of the property with her gardening stuff again. What with the drought, at least there wasn't a whole lot of work to do back there while the cart was broken.

Had my 1978 Yamaha XS650 die on the way to work a few weeks back - lost power and blew a whole lot of oil smoke. Turns out the cheap gas I was running, coupled with too much advance on the right cylinder caused destructive detonation.

Now I know what that rattling noise on hard acceleration was...

Two new pistons and rings, and new head and cylinder base gaskets. The bike runs better than ever - I don't think the rings ever seated properly after the last rebuild - probably because I neglected to re-hone the cylinder when I had to pull the engine apart last Spring. Lesson learned. I'm running ethanol-free 93 octane from now on.

Still to do - body work on my 1963 Beetle, and a new rear lid and left side center section clip on the Vanagon. I really need a bigger garage...

Deja vu?

He's a one trick pony...

Found at Ace of Spades

A month or two late...

Back in the last week of July, we had a near-tornado hit here. I was up in my shop working when it happened - the whole second floor was moving.

Then the tower that carries my Internet connection and the repeater for the neighborhood went down - BANG.

As soon as the storm abated enough to go out and look, sure enough, my 70' Rohn 25 tower was twisted over the roof, almost touching the ground in front. The repeater pilot lights were still lit.

The next day I took these:

The guy wires are still all attached.

The notch in the roof is my doing - I set the base of the tower 6" too far south.

The wide band company sent a crew out the next day to take the old tower down. Expensive scrap metal. Two sections are recoverable for my ham tower, I think.

The tower was guyed about halfway up. The north guy was loose before the storm - I had told the wide band company about it, but they never got someone out to fix it. I'm long past the point where I climb towers.

No damage to the roof, amazingly.

The new tower, with proper guy wires installed:

One section taller than before, and one dish less loading.

It took almost three weeks for the tower to get replaced. Internet withdrawal is tough - one reason I haven't posted a lot even once I got back on the air.

Proof the Demonrats will use the graveyard vote!

Excerpt from an email from MoveOn.org:

Dear MoveOn member,
A couple of months ago, I sat down with leaders of the AFL-CIO for a really hard conversation.
With all the money Karl Rove, the Koch Brothers, and others are spending to defeat President Obama—we needed to do something truly game changing, or President Obama could really lose this election.
And we decided the only way to beat the GOP money machine was to team up and dig deep in the grassroots to create the biggest independent get-out-the-vote campaign in the country.

Obviously they are referring to exhumation as a way of getting out the vote...expect union gravediggers to lead the way!

What's next?

Unbelievable.
*******************

There is a 3,000-lb. granite monument that has been placed in a shopping center in Barack Obama’s hometown of Chicago to commemorate a certain act of his.

You will be forgiven if you cannot immediately recall any noteworthy accomplishments in this man’s life. Sometimes we choose to forget the things that most pain us.

You might have forgotten, for instance, that there is an effective unemployment rate in this country of around 14 percent. (Of course, our officially recorded unemployment rate is 8.3 percent, and it has been that way for a record 43 months.) It is a bitter pill, but it is real and it must not be forgotten. Is this the accomplishment of Obama’s that the Chicago shopping center chose to memorialize? No. But that is understandable, given Illinois’s painful unemployment rate of 8.9 percent.

Inquiring minds want to know - who paid for this?

Got a smart meter?

How about a little open-source code?
+++++++++++

Smart meter hack framework goes open-source

SecureState posts ‘Metasploit-like’ code

Security outfit SecureState’s smart meter hacking framework, Termineter, has gone live over at Google Code.

The software is described as having a structure like Metasploit, with a similar interface and ability to be extended with external modules.

Termineter isn’t up to the full doomsday-scenario “remote attack” that troubles owners of critical infrastructure who stupidly opened up their control interfaces to the Internet (so as to save themselves the cost of private networks): it gathers smart meter data over the devices’ local serial optical interfaces.

SecureState announced its intention to release the software at the end of June. At the time, SecureState said the software allowed users to test for vulnerabilities such as energy consumption fraud and network hijacking.

In addition, Termineter can read from and write to tables in the smart meter, as well as parsing security, modem and log tables. To allow it to be open-sourced, the software focuses on the ANSI C12.18 and C12.19 standards used in smart meters. Users would need to write or acquire separate modules to access vendor-specific information.

As SecurityWeek notes, the tool is to be demonstrated in public at Las Vegas at the Security B-Sides conference on Wednesday July 25. ®

Two Aurora Shootings: One Widely Known; the Other Ignored

Written by
On April 22 of this year a convicted felon, just out of jail, went to an Aurora, Colorado, church and shot and killed a member of the congregation before being killed himself by a congregant carrying a gun.

On July 20, following the horrific shooting at a movie theater in Aurora, President Obama offered his condolences to the victims of the more recent tragedy. "Our time here [on Earth] is limited and it is precious," the president said. "And what matters at the end of the day is not the small things, it’s not the trivial things which so often consume us and our daily lives. It’s about how we choose to treat one another and how we love one another."

Obama then led his supporters at a rally in Fort Myers, Florida, in a moment of silent prayer “for all the victims of less publicized acts of violence that plague our communities every single day.”
No doubt the president was unaware of the other, less-publicized lethal shooting that took place earlier in the year in Aurora, when there was only one victim, thanks to the quick thinking and action of a responsibly armed individual. Aurora police spokesman Frank Fania asked rhetorically: “Who knows what would’ve happened if the [church member, an off-duty police officer] had not been there? It certainly could have been a lot worse.”

How much worse? Could the killing spree have been as bad as the shooting at the movie theater, where a dozen victims lost their lives? Thankfully, we'll never know.
++++++++++++++
Read the whole thing.

The MSM has a tradition of ignoring anything that proves the failure of gun control and the truth of how following our Constitution to the letter promotes freedom and public safety.

Besides, in the first shooting there wasn't enough blood and drama.

Let 'em hear from you

The Demonrats want to know about Mitt Romney's "hidden" income and such. You can go here to leave a comment:

http://www.trickymitt.org/

Since I am a "member" of MoveOn, I get these little gems from time to time. I told them "Since the President hasn't released ANY of his records, why should Romney release any more?".

If you use your real email, you likely will get on a Demonrat mailing list.

Aurora, Colorado

My thoughts.

I've heard that the theater had a "no weapons" policy, but have been unable to find any support for this. If so, another "gun free zone" and the persons responsible for it are as culpable as the shooter.

Every major print story I have read mentions "the gunman". Why are guns singled out when a nutcase commits an evil act? You never hear of the "baseball bat man" or "the switchblade man" - but almost without fail, the "gunman" gets print.

There's no way to prove that the presence of one or more armed moviegoers could have stopped the rampage, but they surely couldn't have made things any worse.

The media instantly jumped on a Tea Party member with a similar name. Not coincidence. It's happened too many times that a conservative is instantly conjured up as the evildoer, and often it it shown later that the perpetrator was actually a leftie-liberal of some sort, if not a card-carrying Demonrat.

Rumors are starting that there was some sort of a "government plot" involved here. I wouldn't put it past the liberal left's command cabal to try and set up something like this - is the technical term "black swan"?

Eyewitnesses say a second party was involved, opening the exit door from inside after using a cell phone.

Of course, the "usual suspects" are out there screaming for more gun control, and isn't it really curious that a vote on that UN small arms treaty is being considered?

Wisconsin police chiefs call for tougher gun checks

Updated: Monday, 16 Jul 2012, 7:44 AM CDT
Published : Monday, 16 Jul 2012, 7:44 AM CDT

MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Wisconsin's police chiefs are pushing to expand background checks on gun buyers.

The Wisconsin Chiefs of Police Association and the National Law Enforcement Partnership to Prevent Gun Violence plan to meet with Wisconsin U.S. Senate candidates on Monday and Tuesday to discuss potential federal legislation that would require buyers in private gun sales to undergo a background check.

Oregon, Wis., Police Chief Doug Pettit is chairman of the WCPA's legislative committee. He says currently only people who buy guns from a federally licensed dealer must pass a background check. He says expanding the requirement to all sales would prevent people who can't legally possess guns from obtaining them.

The chiefs association and the national gun violence prevention group plan to hold a news conference in Madison on Tuesday as well.

H/t Alphecca

These are the same elected officials that at times ignore the State's Attorney when they are told that simply carrying a sidearm is not a cause for a stop - let alone an arrest.

Wonder who the "National Law Enforcement Partnership to Prevent Gun Violence" are? This might help explain. Note the URL.

Real fireworks!

I've always thought a modern fireworks display could be performed on the Moon, using 100-MT hydrogen bursts with suitable doping substances to make pretty colors. It wouldn't have to be just gratuitous waste of good nukes, either - they could be used to excavate for those Lunar cities we have been denied so far.

Happy Fourth of July!

From someone who values America as it should be:

Found at A Trainwreck in Maxwell

SOS answered

Back in June, my email and web server, running Ubuntu 11.10, needed to reboot after a routine update - so I clicked "OK".

Bad move - on reboot, the grub bootloader couldn't find the boot code. No amount of effort on my part could fix this - evidently the update stepped on something critical.

So, I reloaded Ubuntu from the CD - thinking I could simply follow the online setup instructions I used last time to recover my web site and email server, The web server came right back - but email?

Bad assumption - the how-to now installs imap in place of pop3, and evidently was not strictly compatible with Ubuntu 11.10. Spent the better part of three weeks fighting with postfix and courier - finally broke down and cried for help on the Rockford Linux users group list.

Got an email from Dan yesterday, who was not otherwise involved with 4th of July festivites. He drove out here and spent half the day and well into the night beating the system into submission.

So, I've now got email back. Next task is to get the backup Ubuntu box running so this never happens again. And, I've made a new friend!

Save a tree - abolish the BATFE!

Just got a love note from these guys - as a FFL, I am required (by an illegal rule promulgated by an illegal bureaucracy) to use the latest and greatest issue of the good-old 4473 form whenever I transfer a freedom tool to a citizen exercising his or her inalienable right - as guaranteed to not be infringed by the Second Amendment of that almost forgotten document.

Well, the pencil-pushers decided that there's no reason anymore to verify that a resident alien is truly a resident of the state he or she attempts to purchase a firearm in - so all those yellow 4473s are not obsolete and "illegal" to use after July 9th.

So, a stack of about 200 of them just went into the garbage - I won't glorify them with recycling.

How many millions were just wasted on printing a new 4473, and mailing half a ream of paper to every FFL in America?

OsamaCare is NOT un-Constitutional

Lots of laws are Constitutional and still smell to high heaven. This outreeks all of them.

The justices did manage to rule that the "individual mandate" is a TAX, which is exactly opposite to what Osama has been telling us for the last three years.

As Borepatch puts it, "what a disaster for the Democratic Party".

Nancy Pee-Lousy may be celebrating right now - we'll see how she feels come mid-November.

Romney is already planning his repeal of this unspeakable monstrosity. We will see if he has the guts - and the Congressional backing - otherwise, we are stuck with the one of the worst aspects of  (once) Great Britain...

Americans with Disabilities Act

Just saw where the Justice Department has made a bunch of new declarations about the application of the ADA. http://www.access-board.gov/recreation/final.htm

Among them - shooting ranges must be wheelchair accessible at every firing station. This should do wonders for such sports as cowboy action shooting and anything that requires agility and speed.

Golf courses must have access to all putting greens, etc. How does someone in a wheelchair swing a golf club?

All new amusement park rides must be wheelchair accessible. I guess we've seen the last of amusement parks in America, not to mention little carnivals.

They already have forced many community swimming pools to close because the alternative was to install thousands of dollars worth of "access" equipment that likely will never be used in most cases.

The definition of "handicapped" is "anyone who feels handicapped for a physical or mental reason". I have a gimpy foot as a reminder of my motorcycle mishap - so conceivably I could get a "handicapped" license plate on my two-wheel motorcycle. Ludicrous.

Let's get a few things straight.

First, the world isn't fair, and the government cannot regulate fairness. No law ever changed reality, let alone human nature. No mountain will ever be wheelchair accessible and still be a challenge to climbers.

"Public" facilities - those run by government agencies - should be the ONLY targets of legislation like the ADA. Anything else is fascism.

Perhaps it's time for a little civil activism - if everyone applies for a handicapped sticker or license plate, and is denied because of a bureaucrat's decision, and sues, the federal government will be so tied up in lawsuits they might not be able to function.

Beautiful dreams...

Or, we could just repeal this feel-good piece of crap. If a business doesn't provide handicap access, for instance, they lose business, and if people feel strongly enough about it, there will be boycotts and such - and if the pressure is great enough, the business will adapt - "good will" is critical to a business.

Let social pressure change things - not lawmakers.

Ads are gone

I finally got sick of giving a free ride to anyone Google wanted to post to my blog - so Google ads are gone.

It's not like I was ever going to see a payment from them, anyway. For the entire time they were enabled, I "earned" about $6 - and they only pay in multiples of some ridiculous amount.

Musings

Damn.

Had so many good ideas for posts at work, and can't remember them now...

Got to get me a little notebook or audio recorder...

Zen and the art of motocycle repair

Not much Zen, lots of wrenching action.

Wednesday, I got the gaskets I ordered for my XS650 - I found the pesky oil leak at last, coming from the front of the head gasket. Spent the evening putting the engine back together and reinstalling it.

It started with much effort and ran like crap. Timing was way off. Damn - I managed to get the cam timing off by one link in the chain. Too tired to do any more, so went in and took a hot soak.

Thursday, pulled the motor again - one hour - and found the cam indeed was one link advanced. Reset the cam, made DAMN sure it was right. After dinner, put it back in and tried it.

Started right up, ran nice. Set the timing, took a test ride. Runs good. Back to the garage.

Found the right exhaust pipe had spewed a slug of dirty black crap out - figure it was all the rich from when the cam was miss-set and carbon. No more smoke after that purged.

I count myself very lucky that I didn't bend a valve - this is an interference design.

Rode in to work this morning - ran real nice. No leaks apparent after letting it set all morning.

On the way home, stopped at the coin car wash and power-washed it to clean up the last of the dirty fingerprints and crud. No leaks apparent when I got home and parked it.

Now - we'll see if I can go a full tank without having to add oil...

Broken golf carts and raccoons

My wife took the Harley golf cart out back to pursue her ongoing war on parsnips in the back CRP field. About an hour later she walked back. Dead cart.

My son and I drove back - the cart had thrown the main belt, and the flywheel was loose. I repaired that about a year ago with a new key way in the flywheel, but the crankshaft key cut was mushroomed, and I tried to do a jury-rig with JB Weld - which held up for almost a full season. Towed it back up to the big garage.

Looks like I'm going to have to tear the motor down all the way and weld up the damaged key cut, and then re-machine the taper and Woodruff key cut.

Son told me about seeing "eyes" up on the roof where we've heard scrabbling sounds lately. Went up with the big flashlight and a mirror on a stick, and verified that there's a hollow space behind the eave over the back part of the house - with a raccoon living in it. At least there's no direct connection to the attic.

Next project - chase out the critter and block off the hollow area.

Take Your Daughter to the Range Day!

Both of my daughters are good shots, so today I took my 7-year old granddaughter and her Mom out back to the range. I have a pink Crickett .22 single shot I bought just for her.

She was drilled in the four rules before she got  here, and followed them with minor reminders at first. By the end she was setting the rifle down gently and announcing "Going downrange!" before running down to see how she did.

Shooting at about 30 yards, she was getting into a Shoot N See target pretty regularly. Several bull's eyes.

I let her empty one magazine out of the 10-22 at the end, though I had to help support the rifle a bit - she's a skinny kid, and the Ruger is a bit heavy for her.

She wants to go shooting "every time they come" now.

Ray Bradbury

A great American died this week.

Ray Bradbury was the very first writer I ever read as a child. My oldest sister gave me a membership in the Science Fiction Book Club for my birthday back in 1962, and one of the very first books that came was "Twice 22". I have been devouring his words ever since.

The world will not see his like again.

“Kill Scott Walker”: Angry libs flood Twitter with death threats after Wisconsin recall defeat

H/t Anti-Idiotarian Rottweiler

What's the definition of "landslide"?

Walker got more votes in the Demonrat - driven recall than he got in 2010.

53% - 46% for Barrett. Similar for Kleefisch.

I guess Wisconsin is sane after all.

What a waste of time and money. I hope this is a harbinger of November!

One sour note - Lehman vs. Wanggaard in the 21st District Senate race - Demonrat Lehman is winning by 2%, or 779 votes. The Demonrats wanted a recount, they were saying yesterday even before the polls closed - this looks like a perfect place to start. All we need is to find 800 or so graveyard Demonrat votes, and we retain control of the Wisconsin legislature.

If not, gridlock is better than having Demonrats in control.

If he wants to march on MY gun shop, he's going to find out how Cheeseheads react to trespassers.

Video from the story at Cowboy Byte:

I doubt he will get to Beloit - Milwaukee is so much more friendly to his ilk, with Barrett in charge.

Senate Considers Ceding Power to U.N., Sinking U.S. Economy in One Blow

John Kerry, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and mate of the Heinz ketchup fortune, last week decided to revisit the aptly named Law of the Sea Treaty — or LOST.
This treaty was originally rejected by President Reagan, but the LOST agenda has been lurking around the corridors of the United Nations ever since.

The treaty, which was endorsed by the former Soviet Union, would reduce our military power, rob us of rights over our own coastal resources, subject U.S. actions in international waters to the authority of foreign countries and submit our country to an international taxing agency that would “redistribute” our wealth to other nations, including some of our enemies.

Naturally, the liberals like it. And by liberals I mean not just Democrats but some of the RINOs hiding in the GOP camp, such as the five living Republican secretaries of state, from Kissinger to Rice.

+++++++++++
More at the link.

The US really REALLY needs to get out of the United Nations!

Open Carry

I did it today - first open carry off my property. Went to the local credit union to open an account for my son. No one said anything, or even appeared to be looking at me. Of course, I was not waving my hips around to attract attention.

Then, stopped at the local Marathon for some gas - pre-pay, so I went in and gave the clerk $20.

He noticed the gun - complimented me on it. Wanted me to draw it for a picture - I declined, telling him it wasn't a good idea to be playing with a gun like that.

He told me he's been in the USA for four years and mine was the first open-carry gun he's seen not on a police officer.

Glad to help raise awareness.

This morning, I heard a truck start up out front - got the the west windows in time to see a UPS truck accelerating west.

No package was left.

Later on, while mowing, I noticed my two "I Stand With Governor Walker" signs were gone. Later on while riding home from the hardware store, I saw a similar sign was missing from a neighbor's house.

Just supposition and circumstantial evidence, but aren't UPS drivers all in the Teamster's Union?
And aren't all good union people supposed to stick together?

The recall election for Scott Walker is Tuesday, and he's leading in several polls, leading with yard signs I have seen, and leading big with donations. Osama and friends in the Demonratic Party are avoiding Barrett like he's a Tea Party candidate.

I think the Demonrats here in Wisconsin are seeing the writing on the wall - and it says "we are NOT going to allow you to dictate to us any longer".

We'll see how well such desperation plays out in four days.

Picture this:

It's the morning of June 4th. You head to the airport to catch your free flight to New York City. Enjoy the in-flight snack or movie. That evening, a car picks you up and takes you to the main event.

And that's where you meet Presidents Obama and Clinton.

I don't really know what else to say.

Stop imagining -- make it happen.

Why global warming is impossible

Found here.

Some of the points he makes are specious, but the main argument is valid. Water vapor is the primary "greenhouse gas" in the atmosphere, and clouds, driven by solar activity and cosmic ray intensity, are the biggest regulators of our global temperature, after the oceans.

I would like to ask this guy how it is possible that sulfur dioxide and chlorinated compounds can be found in the stratosphere if CO2 is "too heavy" to be found at high altitudes. He never aced high school chemistry and physics, evidently.

Lots of pictures at the link, including a classic VW Bus. Pretty sure THAT bus wasn't Osama's Choomwagon.

Another sickening development

Found this here:

MAIG Coordinators Paid as City Employees, Saves Gun-Hater’s Money

Here’s a great way to reduce overhead and be effective at running a national organization dedicated to infringing on the gun rights of everyday people all at the same time…  Have cities hire your people for you so that tax payers cover ¼ of your people’s salary and benefits, pay for most of their operational costs, and finance all of their other resources!  It also embeds your people as leaders in city government so that you don’t have to lobby there!

Sounds like another conspiracy theory from the tinfoil hat brigade… Right?

Back in March, while researching the repeal of some anti-gun ordinances, I stumbled across an Orlando City Council agenda item that grabbed my attention. It was, on its surface, just a mundane action item for the annual contract renewal of a city employee. But this city employee’s job title was, well, unique…

“Approving Employment Contract for the Grant-Funded Position of Mayors Against Illegal Guns Regional Coordinator.” City of Orlando Website

Much more at the link.

Is YOUR city stealing from you to infringe on your rights?

I thought Barrett was fighting for PUBLIC unions...

But no - he's snubbing the police to try and get the UAW - which lost workers in part due to Democratic "leadership" in Madison when GM shut Janesville down:
++++++++++++

When it came out last week that Milwaukee mayor (and Wisconsin Democratic candidate for governor in the upcoming recall election) Tom Barrett had skipped out on two ceremonies honoring Milwaukee police officers, there was some questions about what Barrett thought could possibly be more important that going to, say, a memorial service for slain Wisconsin policemen.  It probably didn’t help either that Barrett was so evasive about the answer, either – to the point of convenient memory loss.  Well, it turns out that Barrett probably wanted to forget the answer of where he was doing instead of honoring fallen officers, given that the answer was… ‘making a stump speech:’
…Mayor Barrett was actually speaking at a luncheon for retired United Auto Workers in Oshkosh at the exact same time that the fallen officers memorial was taking place in Milwaukee.  Barrett spoke to a room of about 50 UAW union members.
++++++++++++
Video at the link.

I still don't see why people in unions like UAW are against lower taxed for themselves, unless they have been thoroughly brainwashed into a "solidarity" mindset.

Thought Police?

Headline:

Teacher Tells Student He Could Be Arrested for Talking Badly About Obama

Last Monday, a high school student in North Carolina engaged his social studies teacher in a heated debate about politics and the two leading presidential candidates. During the exchange, the teacher (an obvious Obama supporter) got very angry with the student and accused him of disrespecting the president. She even went so far as to tell the boy that he could be jailed for speaking ill of Obama.

One guess as to the political leanings of that teacher...

Unions and Walker

Governor Scott Walker did not "destroy" public unions in Wisconsin.

Public workers still have the right to join unions - now they cannot hold the public hostage with the threat of a strike if they don't instantly get their unreasonable demands for raises and benefits.

A video of Walker talking to several local business people reveals that his goal is to make Wisconsin a "right to work" state - in other words, he wants to make it possible for people to get jobs in a union shop without paying union dues if they do not wish to join the union.

Anyone who wishes to join a union is free to do so. Any workplace that decides to become unionized is free to vote to do so. All that changes is that now the unions cannot demand dues from every worker regardless of their desire to participate. Freedom from coercion. Isn't that an American ideal?

Twenty-three states are currently "right to work". It is no coincidence that the states with the highest unemployment and worst finances are union-controlled - like Illinois, California, and New Jersey.

Unions support Democratic politicians because Democratic politicians cater to unions to the detriment of the public. Some Republican politicians, like Walker, would rather see their states freed from the tyranny of union blackmail, particularly in the public sector.

There was a good reason that FDR refused to allow public unions while he was saddling the United States with his National Labor Relations Board and other socialist bureaucracies - he knew that allowing public workers to unionize would create a de-facto fourth branch of government with no checks and balances over their power.

It's long past time that America shed the yoke of that fourth branch of government. Walker's efforts are a good first step. After his affirmation of office in the upcoming "recall", I hope he will stick with his idea of Wisconsin as a "right to work" state. We can use all the help we can get in this depression.

Another concealed carry license!

My wife just received hers. #104,XXX.

Yay!

Another place I can no longer patronize

NAPA in Beloit on Fourth Street has "no weapons" signs up, in English and Spanish.

I was not carrying, so I stepped in and told them I could no longer patronize their establishment.

Went down the street and bought my parts at Auto Zone, which has no such signage.

Walker vs. Barrett

It's on. Walker got 97% of the Republican vote. Barrett got 57.5% of the Democratic.

603,165 votes were cast for Republicans.

596,809 votes were cast for Democrats.

It's going to be a really tight horse race if the same percentages turn out next month.

Pray for complacent Democrats.

Really?

I was almost starting to think Mittens would be good for America - and then he goes and emulates our erstwhile President.

America is truly screwed.

Chuck,

It's pretty simple - a good meal and some good discussion about where our country is headed.  But it's the sort of thing that keeps me energized on the campaign trail.

Meeting supporters like you over a plate of pancakes or a burger gives me a chance to hear your ideas about turning this country around - and it's one of my favorite parts about being on the road.

That's why sometime soon, I'd love to grab a bite with a supporter like you on the campaign trail.

Donate $3 today to be automatically entered for the chance to join me for a meal on the road.

Meeting Americans like you on the road always reminds me why I'm in this fight. And it's always fun to chat over a great meal.

The latest from the Ministry of Truth

Truth Team
Chuck --

I think the first item in this week's tipsheet -- The Life of Julia -- lays out the impact this election will have on millions of American women more clearly than anything this campaign has done so far.

It's a great tool for the Truth Team and our goal of making sure everyone gets the facts they need. So let's get to it:

#1 The Life of Julia
The Life of Julia is an interactive online tool that looks at how President Obama's policies help one woman over her lifetime compared to Mitt Romney's plans. Whether it's allowing young people to stay on their parents' health insurance until age 26, expanding access to Pell Grants, or passing the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act that allows women to stand up for their right to equal pay for equal work, President Obama has fought to help women of all ages. Under a Romney administration, Julia's story would look a lot different: Romney would reverse many of President Obama's accomplishments to pay for tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires. Take a look at how the policies the President has put in place would affect a woman at each stage of her life, then share it with others:

Wow.

They actually want you to believe that Mr. Osama has "accomplished" anything beneficial to America.

I'm not a big fan of Mitt's, but I doubt he could possibly do worse than Barack already has.

Demonrat attack alert

If you were thinking of voting the Demonrat primary ballot here in Wisconsin to try and bollux their candidates for the recall, think again.

Several Demonrat Senate recall challengers have fake Democratic opponents in the race, in an attempt to muddy the waters and possibly end up with no opposition to the embattled Republican Senator.

Well, two can play that game. There is now a "Republican" running against Walker in the primary.

Unless you want a bonafide nutcase in the recall election, and a guaranteed victory for the forces of evil, PLEASE get out there and vote for Governor Walker next Tuesday.

Highly intelligent and sneaky spam artist

Got six "PayPal" emails all in a row in the spam folder that I just couldn't pass up:

RE:You just sent a payment to Teddy Peterson
FW:You just sent a payment to Allan Peterson
RE:You just sent a payment to Ulysses Peterson
RE:You just sent a payment to Harrison Peterson
RE:You just sent a payment to Darrell Peterson
RE:You just sent a payment to Robin Peterson

All for $80 to $140. The amount due and the amount paid were both randomly different.
All the sending email addresses were of the form "wcFIRST_NAME22@hotmail.com"
All show the same shipping address.
All refer to "Thad Peterson".

The links all go to a non-functional URL. So - what was the point?

If you want to get someone to click on your spam email's links, perhaps you ought to write the robot script so it sends only ONE email to each recipient - and perhaps you could make it look like the charge actually was paid by the person receiving the email.

If you are smart enough to write the script that generates this, how much extra work would it be to make it less obviously a scam?

Duh.

I wonder if PayPal bothers to attempt prosecution of these idiots if they are ever caught. It would be a slam-dunk copyright infringement, not to mention interstate fraud.

Update:

This morning I got two more:

FW:You just sent a payment to Deirdre Peterson - paid $60 toward the $100 billed.
FW:You just sent a payment to Shawn Peterson - paid $100 toward the $120 billed.

What's the point, if the links don't turn up someone's Viagra store or try to phish for your data?
