It's been too long since I raised my voice. So:

Governor Walker,

There are several things I want you to use your line item veto on.

First is funding for Common Core education standards. Public education is a function that ought to be under local control, with little state oversight and funding at all, and no federal interference whatsoever. Get the federal government and the UN out of our schools in Wisconsin! No money for Common Core.

There already are too many "databases" out there. "Skyward" is a long step too far. Veto it.

Next - DNA collection from persons arrested for felonies. Absolutely not. In this country, a person is innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, no matter how bad the circumstances look at the time of arrest. Also, why is the collection being handled by a foreign firm? I am sure there is at least one DNA capable laboratory in the State of Wisconsin, and if not, at least within the United States. DNA must only be collected if it is required for trial evidence before conviction, and the samples destroyed if the suspect is found not guilty. Once a person is convicted, DNA collection makes legal sense.

Remember that government is there to ensure the freedom of the people, not job security for bureaucrats, or making life "easier" for the police and people who snoop into the private lives of the people.

He's all skin and bones and very affectionate. He's got a vet appointment next week for a checkup and neutering, if he needs it. I suppose it would be too much to expect that every tomcat that show up here has already been fixed, like Lucky was.

This has gone way too far

14-year-old at the center of "NRA T-Shirt Controversy" now facing possibility of 1 year in jail

 Suspended and arrested after refusing to change his NRA shirt. Today, 14-year-old Jared Marcum appeared before a judge and was officially charged with obstructing an officer.

A $500 fine and up to a year in jail, that's the penalty that Jared could face, now that a judge has allowed the prosecution to move forward with it's obstructing an officer charge against him.

"Me, I'm more of a fighter and so is Jared and eventually we're going to get through this," Jared's father Allen Lardieri said.  "I don't think it should have ever gotten this far."

The Logan County Police Department initially claimed that the at-the-time 8th grade Logan Middle School student was arrested for disturbing the education process, obstructing an officer and Lardieri says that officers even went as far as threatening to charge Jared with making terroristic threats.

"In my view of the facts, Jared didn't do anything wrong," Ben White, Jared's attorney said.  "I think officer Adkins could have done something differently."

Prosecuting attorney Michael White refused to respond to any questions, as did Logan Police.

We obtained official court documents from both sides of this case.  On one hand, the arresting officer from the Logan City Police Department, James Adkins, claims that when Jared refused to stop talking, that hindered his ability to do his job, hence, the obstruction charge.  On the other side, Ben White points out that nowhere in the arresting officer's petition, does it mention Jared ever making any threats or acting in a violent manner. 

"Every aspect of this is just totally wrong," Lardieri said.  "He has no background of anything criminal, up until now and it just seems like nobody wants to admit they're wrong."

Ben White says he will continue working to have the charges against Jared dismissed.  If that doesn't happen in the coming weeks, Jared will be back in court on July 11th.

Do the cops bring obstruction charges against every mouthy drunk they nab? That cop ought to be fired for letting a 14-year-old get under his skin so that he couldn't do his job.

Damn straight "it never should have gotten this far". The only reason I can see for this escalation is that some petty bureaucrats got embarrassed and now have to prove to themselves that they and their inane rules are important and deserving of respect.

The people in the area need to wake up and visit the school board - with torches and pitchforks.


Another visit to the local police chief and the politicians that appointed him is also indicated, as is a visit to that judge.

I would have never expected to hear this kind of boneheaded stupidity from West Virginia. NYC, San Francisco, LA, Chicago, yes. But in those places, it wouldn't be news.

IRS chief to taxpayers: Just trust me

The new chief of the Internal Revenue Service, the feared federal agency now mired in scandal for its admitted targeting of conservatives and its lavish conferences, says he wants Americans to trust him.

But one member of Congress says he has a plan that would permanently resolve the conflict between an administrative agency that has confessed to abusing Americans and Americans who are tired of being abused: abolish the IRS.

Danny Werfel, the new IRS chief appointed by President Obama in an attempt to tamp down the growing congressional scrutiny and outrage, appeared before Congress today and acknowledged that people who used to trust his agency now don’t.
“My primary mission is to restore that trust,” he said.

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, had an altogether different resolution.
“I think we ought to abolish the IRS and instead move to a simple flat tax where the average American can fill out taxes on [a] postcard,” he told Fox News in a weekend interview.

“Put down how much you earn, put down a deduction for charitable contributions, home mortgage and how much you owe. It ought to be a simple one-page postcard, and take the agents, the bureaucracy out of Washington and limit the power of government.”

At The Cross Roads

I caught a good read over at the American Thinker entitled: Exploiting Nathan Dunlap. The author’s line of reasoning is very sound and evoked a similar thought process in my own bean.

We see almost daily, more willingness of the Ogabe Administration to place matters rightfully the jurisdiction the legislative branch into the hands of bureaucrats, sycophants and of course, his personal stooges such as Holder, Napolitano, Carney-Barker, et al. Our standard low-information voter will not be made to understand the true danger here. That we can replace an administration and will in the ballot box, we can’t change to the institutional legacy mindset of Congress that is the real danger here. Congress is massively delinquent in the their responsibilities as the elected branch of government. They increasingly chose allowing Obama to make extra-constitutional decisions because it’s politically safe for them. They know that we’re making steady progress in engaging our fellow citizens as the usurpation of powers in the all-out headlong rush to subvert capitalism into socialism continues. The proggies know full well that they are well past the point-of-no-return in their efforts to radicalize the Republic and they are rapidly approaching the time where they will be fully exposed to the awakening public and the game will be over. Likely status quo, but doubtfully status quo ante, will prevail with a generation of work to do (if we have the will) to return the Republic to some resemblance of it’s intended structure.

Apathy I believe, lies at the root of what I’m trying to process here. Are we truly at the point where it’s ‘just as easy’ to allow someone else to make the tough decisions for us? I’ve expressed frustrations on these pages in the past with the “politicians are all the same, so it doesn’t matter” folks that refuse to vote because they ‘feel’ their input into the process has no real meaning. Unfortunately here, they are becoming increasingly correct and we’re becoming more wrong.

If the only means of governance truly in our hands, our elected branches, are allowed to keep their jobs while socialistic tyranny’s ball-carriers run over, around and through them, then this great experiment has failed. It’s the last of the constitutionally provided checks of an over reaching government under control of the people. The courts have utterly failed us, and as long as the legacy media is dominated by ideologues, the executive branch has no real employer to answer before, other than opinion polls in their reelection plans and even they don’t seem to matter to this administration. Obama has nothing to lose and his cause, Marxism and Statism has everything to gain.

And the next brick in the road to tyranny: A U.S. attorney in Tennessee says that posting comments critical of Islam on Facebook and other  social media could violate civil rights laws.

Translation: The Feds are monitoring your Internet postings and will soon be targeting anyone who is anti-Islam, most of whom I’m guessing would be Christians and Jews.
Hmm. Do you suppose that might even be conservative Christians and Jews?
The pattern continues.

It’s a good thing that I and most of the folks who post here only post facts about the only world religion to be founded by a warlord, and which is in competition against the religion of atheism for the most people killed in its name.

So, if I tell people that Islam is a political system masquerading as a religion, and is as evil as religions can be, some US attorney is going to come for me?

Let him try. I'll read him the pertinent amendment to the US Constitution.

Jugears poised to sign UN gun treaty

So, the news is buzzing about our traitor-in-chief Jugears Osama allegedly ready to sign America's Constitution away tomorrow.

Last time I looked, the President takes a solemn oath to protect and defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic.Unless Jugears had his fingers crossed, he's bound by this oath. If he had his fingers crossed, it just proves he never matured emotionally beyond childhood. He's still required to follow the rules.

The Senate voted recently by a comfortable majority, including a few Demonrats, to oppose such a treaty. We shall see if they do as they have said they will.

If the Senate does ratify this abomination - and the "Law of the Sea" (LOST) is up again for a vote I hear, also - I see nothing good at all in our immediate future.

There will be blood and fire, I fear.

Phelps’ Senate Bill 2193 was defeated in the Senate Executive Committee by a vote of 6-8. Senator James Clayborne sided with the 5 Republican members of the committee. Later this afternoon, the committee adopted an amendment to Senator Raoul’s HB 183, with a vote of 8-4-1. The Republican members of the Executive Committee voted “no” or “present” on the Raoul version of concealed-carry legislation. As a reminder the Forby/Phelps bill included preemption and was a “shall” issue concealed-carry version. Raoul’s bill is written for “may” issue. We are clearly at a stalemate at this point, I will likely send out another update tomorrow. Furthermore, there are reportedly so many restrictions in their proposal that, even if you were fortunate enough to be granted a carry permit, there would be very few areas where you would be able to carry legally. Of course, the places where concealed carry would be the most necessary are exempted in the Cullerton-Kotowski-Raoul "no carry" plan. One thing is for certain, Senate President John Cullerton has refused to allow Sen. Forby to call SB2193 for a vote in the Senate - effectively killing the bill. We are not 100% sure as of yet what the Cullerton-Kotowski-Raoul bill number will be. We think it will come as an amendment to HB0183. How NASA might build its very first warp drive

A few months ago, physicist Harold White stunned the aeronautics world when he announced that he and his team at NASA had begun work on the development of a faster-than-light warp drive. His proposed design, an ingenious re-imagining of an Alcubierre Drive, may eventually result in an engine that can transport a spacecraft to the nearest star in a matter of weeks — and all without violating Einstein's law of relativity. We contacted White at NASA and asked him to explain how this real life warp drive could actually work. 

The original Alcubierre warp drive required the equivalent of a Jupiter mass in energy - that old e=mc^2 factor - and was considered forever out of reach. Dr. White has done some analysis that reduces the energy requirement to just 1,600 pounds. His NASA paper is here (pdf).

Warning lands Batavia teacher in hot water

 A Batavia High School teacher's fans are rallying to support him as he faces possible discipline for advising students of their Constitutional rights before taking a school survey on their behavior.

They've been collecting signatures on an online petition, passing the word on Facebook, sending letters to the school board, and planning to speak at Tuesday's school board meeting.

Students and parents have praised his ability to interest reluctant students in history and current affairs.

But John Dryden said he's not the point. He wants people to focus on the issue he raised: Whether school officials considered that students could incriminate themselves with their answers to the survey that included questions about drug and alcohol use.

Dryden, a social studies teacher, told some of his students April 18 that they had a 5th Amendment right to not incriminate themselves by answering questions on the survey, which had each student's name printed on it.

 Damn right they have the right to know! Just because a kid steps through the schoolhouse door, he or she does NOT become property and lose basic human rights.

What does this good citizen get for his trouble?

Dryden faces having a "letter of remedy" placed in his employment file. He said this week he is negotiating the matter with district authorities.

Only a school board can issue a letter of remedy, which informs teachers their conduct was improper and could have consequences up to dismissal, according to state law.

Today, you definitely take your career in your hands by speaking the truth - especially in school.

Let's count the lies:

First, the people of Wisconsin certainly do want guns around - or we wouldn't have overwhelmingly supported Governor Walker in the last leftie-liberal recall election. There wouldn't be over a quarter-million Wisconsinites now possessing a CCW permit, and countless others open-carrying every day.

3 to 1 margin? Perhaps in parts of Milwaukee and Madison!

Inanimate objects put no one at risk at any time. Want to put people at risk? Prohibit fire extinguishers in public places because someone might, someday, abuse one or use one to injure someone else. Let's see some objective evidence of that 5 to 7 times number. Can't show us a link to someone other than a Joyce Foundation mouthpiece? Thought so!

80% of businesses in Chicago, New York City, or San Fransisco, perhaps. I have seen only three places I might want to visit around here that post. The Beloit NAPA, the Beloit Library, and Basics in Janesville. Everywhere else either is happy to see my carrying openly or has ignored me - and when I carry concealed, how does anyone know I have an evil weapon?

I will believe that "thousands" have signed their petitions - after all, these idiots did get a recall election of Governor Walker organized - with lots of out-of-state money and illegal petition signers. Having a liberal Madison judge invalidate our Voter ID law didn't help them. Record turnouts for the right people in most areas.

Personally, I will stick my head in a place that posts and tell anyone within earshot why I cannot come in - and if they want my business, they will lose the stupid sign.

You can rest assured, gun free business, that the bad guys will ignore your sign, if they even bother to read it. They might chuckle as they pull their gun to rob you, though.

Letter to the Editor

Stateline news again. Some woman from East Troy likes universal background checks and believes that 90% of Americans support her view.

So:

People just can't seem to understand that firearms are not subject to regulation in the United States. The Second Amendment is quite clear:

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed."

A "well regulated Militia" is all able-bodied Americans trained in the use of weapons. It has nothing to do with the National Guard.

"The security of a free State" means protecting the inherent rights of the people of the United States from tyranny, foreign or domestic.

"The right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed" is pretty self-explanatory. "Infringed" means putting any obstacle at all between a law-abiding American and access to weapons common to the infantryman of the day.

Our country has a long history of infringing on American's right to keep and bear arms, starting with the 1934 National Firearms Act, which would have been found un-Constitutional in the Supreme Court but for the fact that a government lawyer only told part of the truth when testifying about a "prohibited" weapon.

"Universal background checks" will be worse than useless without universal registration - and history teaches us that gun registration inevitably results in confiscation and all too often in genocide.

By the way - that "90%" is from a dubious poll likely conducted by one of the many gun-hating groups out there. I know of no one who supports more gun control.

Responsibility

When you are the leader, you are responsible for the actions of those under you, whether or not they act at your direct orders or on their own initiative while on the job. This is a basic law of organizations.

So - we have a President who claims that everything that happens is news to him, he has no responsibility for any of the actions of those he oversees.

No. That's not how it works, Barry. You are responsible for the acts of those IRS agents - you should be leading the investigation and kicking butts if you truly did not know what was happening.

The Department of Justice is under your control, too. Your man Holder is responsible for the acts of those under him, and you are responsible for his actions - so you are responsible for illegal wiretaps and gun-running to Mexican gangs as well.

Instead of loudly proclaiming your ignorance and incompetence, why not try leading for a little while?

Letter to the editor

The Stateline News today provides a response to my recent letter.

A Lindsy Schnell of Beloit completely misinterpreted my letter, saying I am "afraid" of what life without fossil fuels will be.

Damn right I am "afraid". Our standard of living would plummet, millions would die of starvation or lack of medical care.

So, here's my reply:

Lindsy Schnell misses the point.

First "climate change", as peddled by the scaremongers, does not exist, and there's precious little Man can do to stop it. Our climate is driven by the Sun's output, and I know of no way to alter that, unless we spend trillions to build an orbital sun shade for the whole planet. This has actually been discussed, believe it or not.

A little thought will show that being forced by government to stop using fossil fuels will kill millions, and reduce the standard of living of the survivors. This is common sense when you realize that everything we eat is produced with the help of oil-burning machines. Shut down the factory farms and see how many big cities can survive on backyard gardens.

The market will drive new energy sources much more efficiently than government will - as witness how much our current administration has squandered on "green" energy failures.

Why is there a disconnect with human activity and nature? We didn't drop out of the sky like alien invaders and lay waste to the planet. We belong here as much as a spotted owl.

And, in case you didn't notice, our air and water are a lot cleaner then even back in the 1960's, due to regulation and the efforts of private industry. The government mandated pollution reductions, and the market not only exceeded their demands, they gave us 40 MPG cars in the process.

Since we are on the subject of fossil fuels - anyone else notice just how many things are now made of plastic that used to be steel or other metals? I noticed that the dumpsters behind my employer's plant are one piece molded plastic now - a few hundred pounds of fossil oil molded into a bin on wheels.

If we are running out of oil like the scaremongers all are screaming, how is this economical?

Beloit Daily News, again:

We've heard for years that we have to do "something" about gun violence and the easy availability of guns. How gun crime is increasing. We have to ACT!

That we need "universal background checks" and have to close the "gun show loophole" even  though only 1% of weapons used in crime were obtained at a gun show and less than 15% were legally purchased.

That we have to ban scary "assault rifles" and "large capacity ammunition feeding devices", when under 2% of crimes involved a rifle of any kind.

Well, the truth hurts - the US Department of Justice just released a report that shows "gun violence" is down by two-thirds since 1993 - at the same time Americans have greatly increased the number of privately owned weapons, and all but one state now have some sort of concealed carry law.

The forces of evil are at work. The web site I posted a while back about the Liberator printed pistol was censored. Aged Demonrat lizard Chucky Schumer was pissed that there are people smarter than him out there, and proposed a law banning printed firearms.

In 2011, a total of 478,400 fatal and nonfatal violent
crimes were committed with a firearm (table 1).

Homicides made up about 2% of all firearm-related
crimes. There were 11,101 firearm homicides in 2011,
down by 39% from a high of 18,253 in 1993 (figure 1).
The majority of the decline in firearm-related homicides
occurred between 1993 and 1998. Since 1999, the number of
firearm homicides increased from 10,828 to 12,791 in 2006
before declining to 11,101 in 2011.

Nonfatal firearm-related violent victimizations against
persons age 12 or older declined 70%, from 1.5 million
in 1993 to 456,500 in 2004 (figure 2). The number then
fluctuated between about 400,000 to 600,000 through 2011.1
While the number of firearm crimes declined over time, the
percentage of all violence that involved a firearm did not
change substantively, fluctuating between 6% and 9% over
the same period. In 1993, 9% of all violence was committed
with a firearm, compared to 8% in 2011. 

How about that "gun show loophole"?

In 2004, among state prison inmates who possessed a gun
at the time of offense, less than 2% bought their firearm at
a flea market or gun show and 40% obtained their firearm
from an illegal source.

 There you have it - proof positive that we are right and the loony Left is dead wrong.

Gun crime has plunged, but Americans think it's up, says study

Gun crime has plunged in the United States since its peak in the middle of the 1990s, including gun killings, assaults, robberies and other crimes, two new studies of government data show.

Yet few Americans are aware of the dramatic drop, and more than half believe gun crime has risen, according to a newly released survey by the Pew Research Center.

In less than two decades, the gun murder rate has been nearly cut in half. Other gun crimes fell even more sharply, paralleling a broader drop in violent crimes committed with or without guns. Violent crime dropped steeply during the 1990s and has fallen less dramatically since the turn of the millennium.

The number of gun killings dropped 39% between 1993 and 2011, the Bureau of Justice Statistics reported in a separate report released Tuesday. Gun crimes that weren’t fatal fell by 69%. However, guns still remain the most common murder weapon in the United States, the report noted. Between 1993 and 2011, more than two out of three murders in the U.S. were carried out with guns, the Bureau of Justice Statistics found.

So, they report the truth - but subtly warp their language to keep the guns as evil ball rolling and make sure you still know that GUNS are the reason for most murders - not the murderers who use them.

If you keep pushing the rare school shooting into 24/7 coverage, and ignore the real statistics, what are Americans who have only mass media as their source supposed to believe?

The name is appropriate - I doubt this gun is good for more than one or two shots before the barrel is useless - and I doubt that it is rifled. Just like a certain sheet metal one-shot mass produced for a couple bucks each back in the 1940's. Of course, a smoothbore like this might be classed as AOW by the BATFE - so printing one might make you a federal criminal unless you be their permission and pay the tax. Just saying.
