J. Eric Fuller, a survivor of last weekend’s shooting massacre in Tucson, gained national notoriety this week after claiming shooter Jared Lee Loughner got conservatives Glenn Beck and Sarah Palin their “first target.” The Blaze also brought you the story of Trent Humphries, a Tucson-area tea party leader who was warned by police to “stay away from public places” as his organization was being targeted with threats following the shooting.

On Saturday morning, Fuller and Humphries met during a town hall-style event hosted by ABC’s Christianne Amanpour that featured family members of victims, Tucson citizens and community leaders. Toward the end of the meeting, local news reports that Fuller objected to comments made by Humphries and Arizona state Rep. Terri Proud, a Republican. In response, Fuller took a photo of Humphries and told him, “You’re dead.”‘



Pima County police deputies immediately escorted Fuller from the room. The Sheriff’s spokesman, Jason Ogan, confirmed Saturday afternoon that Fuller has been charged with threats & intimidation and disorderly conduct.

Every newspaper in America, if not the world, gave the shooting of U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and the murder of half a dozen other people by a creep named Jared Loughner page 1 coverage. However. the specific tool that Loughner used for his work of killing. was less widely reported.

He got them all — and wounded a dozen more — with his 9-millimeter Glock.

What is a Glock, and what is it designed to be used for? It’s a rapid-fire weapon that can accommodate a 30-bullet clip, and it has only one real use. It’s of very little value for hunting or for Grandma to keep under her pillow to repel burglars. What it is good for is the killing of groups of human beings by a single shooter, and for nothing else.

For that reason, it was outlawed by federal statute until 2004, when that law expired and our Congress, cowardly as it always is when it comes to offending the National Rifle Association, failed to renew it.

Since no conventional rifle or pistol could have murdered so many so fast, it is entirely due to the work of the National Rifle Association that most of this current crop of victims are dead.

I think it is self-evident that Jared Loughner did not particularly wish to kill, for example, Christina Taylor Green. After all, she was only nine years old and could have done little to offend him. The only reason she was in the group that Loughner fired into was that she had just been elected to her third-grade student council. She wanted to see how politicians operated.

I don’t know how many readers of this blog belong to the NRA, but if any are present now I’d like to ask a question:

Are you proud of yourself today?.

Fred, I've read many of your works and enjoyed them immensely. It saddens me to have to say this.

I am an NRA Life Member and a gun dealer. I sell tools like this
to people who pass the federal and state background checks. In Wisconsin, I also have to pay the state $13 to call into their "Handgun Hotline" that duplicates the FBI's E-Check system, and make my customer wait 48 hours before picking up his tool of freedom.

In your first paragraph, you make the mistake of blaming an inanimate object for the actions of a madman.

A gun is a tool. If this creep, who has been named quite too often, used a ball-peen hammer for his massacre, would you be calling for "hammer control". Of course not.

The Glock is a dependable tool for self-defense. The Second Amendment is not about hunting - someone as intelligent as you are ought to be able to figure that out.

I own two Glocks, a 10mm Model 20 and a 9mm Model 19. When Wisconsin joins the other states that do not illegally prohibit their citizens from carrying concealed, the 9mm will be my gun of choice. The 10mm sits next to my pillow, ready for the unlikely event that my home is invaded.

Neither gun has ever invited me to go on a killing spree.

Do you really want to live in a world where you need to prove your sanity in order to protect yourself?

You really ought to check your facts before making statements like these about a subject you obviously have not researched.

Any good hunting rifle could have murdered people as quickly and as finally, as could any magazine-fed handgun ever produced. Glock is a bogeyman because some ill-informed Congressperson back in the 1980's decided it was a "plastic gun" that "could not be found by metal detectors" - both wrong statements that got snatched by the liberal media as sound bites to be repeated ad-infinitum. This size of pistol was designed to enable people to conform to the new concealed carry laws then being enacted across the sane part of America.

Freedom has a price - part of that price is to accept that the world has evil people in it that can never be protected against without destroying that freedom. If you want to live in a state that prohibits all danger, I recommend that you try Great Britain - they've gone as far as to prohibit self defense, lest the criminal gets hurt.

Osama is learning?

I studiously avoided watching the Arizona shooting memorial, because I could not abide hearing his voice, and I made the assumption that he would be spouting the usual liberal line.

Perhaps I was wrong. From everything I have read, he actually acted Presidential.

It's about time. Now, we have to hope for a change that is permanent, and that he actually is going to try and lead the country to a better future, rather than over the highest cliff he can find.

Fingers crossed. Not holding my breath,yet.

Recently, I read that our new Governor Walker was going to advocate cutting Wisconsin taxes in an effort to lure more businesses to our state, and help create jobs in this depression we are in.

I see complaining about how much these tax cuts are going to "cost" the state.

Let's get one thing really clear. Taxes are costs for businesses and private citizens, who end up paying them, since the businesses always pass on this cost of doing business. They are income to the state.

A cost is what you pay out to cover an expense. Lower income cannot be a cost - it might be a loss, but it can never be a cost.

If the state is bringing in less income for any reason - businesses leaving the state because of unreasonable regulation and high taxes, or less spending by the people who have lost their jobs, then the state must do what those businesses and citizens do when faced with lower income - STOP SPENDING SO MUCH.

It's really simple. Cut spending. Lower taxes will attract business. Consumer and business spending will rise. Government will take in more from sales taxes. Now, keep government from raising spending again because of the higher income, so we don't get back into this mess again.

This was Osama's good friend he's talking about.

One has to wonder how much of Ayre's philosophy Osama absorbed...

Dem planning bill that would outlaw threats to lawmakers

Rep. Robert Brady (D-Pa.) reportedly plans to introduce legislation that would make it a federal crime to use language or symbols that could be perceived as threatening or inciting violence against a federal official or member of Congress.

Brady told CNN that he wants federal lawmakers and officials to have the same protections against threat currently provided to the president. His call comes one day after Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.) was shot, along with 19 other people, at a public event in Tucson. A suspect is currently in custody.

My message to Tammy Gay:

I understand that Robert Brady from Pennsylvania is going to introduce a bill banning "threats" to lawmakers.

I know it's an alien concept to some Representatives and Senators, but we have this thing called the Constitution that absolutely prohibits Congress from passing any law limiting freedom of speech. Perhaps you could remind Rep. Brady of this document, and recommend he read and understand it before offering any more legislation to the House.

If this becomes a bill, I certainly hope you will not support it in any way.

President Obama insisted America was 'digging itself out of hole' today as new figures offered a glimmer of hope for the country's beleaguered economy.

103,000 new jobs were created last month and the unemployment rate dropped to 9.4 percent, its lowest level in 19 months, the Labor Department said.

Hello, and congratulations on our victory!

You are a shining light in the darkness of socialist thought that has attempted to ruin our state for many years. Perhaps now we can shed some of the really stupid and oppressive laws passed by your predecessor and his cronies.

High on this list ought to be an act repealing the current concealed carry prohibition, and all prohibitions on weapons carried by law-abiding folks. People who use weapons in crimes can be prosecuted for their crimes, not for having the weapon. These laws have been there for centuries - we should enforce them.

Along with the repeal of these un-Constitutional laws against self-defense, you should look into abolishing the 'Handgun Hotline", another un-Constitutional infringement on our Second Amendment rights, not to mention an expensive duplication of the FBI's E Check program. One easy way to cut the cost of Wisconsin government is to eliminate duplication.

Please enforce the state ban on local gun control laws. the City of Beloit wants me to sign a register if I buy pistol ammunition. I am sure criminals don't bother, or get someone without a criminal record to make the purchase. Who should ever be required to "sign in" to exercise an unalienable right?

Thank you very much for giving Mr. Van Hollen the go-ahead to sue the feds over ObamaCare. An extremely good first step towards fiscal responsibility there!

It wouldn't hurt to rein in the DNR, also. The lakes and rivers of Wisconsin belong to the people of Wisconsin, not to the DNR. Make them understand this fact.

Also, making it known that you will veto any legislation that does not have a valid basis for existing under both federal and state Constitutions would be nice.

Congratulations on your new title. I hope you are able to help us undo some of the illegal acts Mr. Obama and his sycophants have rammed through the last Congress.

The first thing you ought to do is insist that any new law proposed be accompanied by the relevant Constitutional section that explicitly allows the federal government to legislate on that subject.

Repealing ObamaCare ought to be near the top of the list, along with an investigation of the BATFE, the FDA, the EPA, and the FCC for overstepping their legal powers.

Permanently repealing the immoral "Death (estate) Tax" should also be a priority.

Of course, work towards a "fair tax" and a repeal of the 16th Amendment are important goals, as well as a limit on federal spending to 10% or less of the current GNP. Shutting down all those un-Constitutional alphabet soup agencies ought to help achieve this.

Anyway, good luck, and my best wishes for your success. Whatever we can fix before 2012 will help, but once we have rid our country of Mr Obama and the remainder of his socialist hangers-on, the real work will be just starting. There's about 200 years of federal overstepping to be reversed, and close to 20 million laws to be repealed.

It's the LAW!

Effective next month, every private home in Wisconsin MUST have multiple CO detectors in place, or ELSE - nothing. The law has no teeth.

Yet.

Once a law is on the books, it's trivial for our "public servants" to pass a modifier, quietly, that makes it a felony to not comply, or provide for a huge fine and unannounced "inspections" to assure compliance. Case in point, Illinois' seat belt laws - once only enforced after a legitimate traffic stop, now a primary reason TO stop you - and a nice income source for the Demonrats who run the asylum down there.

I hate the phrase "there oughtta be a law!", but perhaps we ought to encourage a few amendments to the Wisconsin Constitution - one could be "no law that proposes to force people to act safely in their private lives shall be proposed, and any existing law that forces people to act safely or purchase anything to promote personal safety shall be null and void at the date of adoption of this amendment"...

It could be called "The Darwin Amendment". One very bad thing governments have done for the human race is to prevent Darwin's theories from being proven more widely by "nanny state" laws.

If the gov't wants to encourage safety, perhaps they could steal less from us as "taxes", and perhaps insurance companies could offer lower rates to people who show they have incorporated these safety devices on their own. I in no way am proposing the gov't to legislate insurance discounts or anything else - they ought to keep their noses out of private lives. The only public safety issues they legitimately have are things like maintaining public roads and such so as to minimize dangers to the public. They sure dropped the ball on traffic roundabouts...

UI follies

Tried to apply for unemployment. The office opens at 7:45 AM. Called at 8.

After sitting through the obligatory "press 1 for English" and "press 1 to file a claim" messages, I got a two minute message telling me why I have to give my SSN. Then, and only then, I was allowed to type in the SSN, and verify they got it right.

Another message, telling me there's a large volume of calls today, and they would try to transfer the call. Transfer noises.

Then "There are no agents available. Call back later". Total time tying up one of their incoming lines was about six minutes.

I called back a few minutes later - after re-entering all that data, got into the wait queue. After a couple minutes, the hold blurb about how you can do all this stuff - except the reason I was calling (because they told me I had to speak to someone live!) on the Internet - was interrupted by a male voice advising me of a 22-minute minimum wait for a live agent.

I hung up and drove out to Juda to apply for a real job.
