Who gets an email from "betty", who uses an email address of "Vicky951", and wants replies sent to "Rosanna069" and an invalid area code phone number, and would either attempt to call or reply?

I can understand that certain persons - probably our jugeared CINC - would hit "reply" thinking they might get a quick thrill - and the receiving email then knows about a "live" email address they can use to lend verisimilitude to later spam.

I always get a kick out of the text attachment of random phrases. At lest this one put it down far enough that you had to scroll to see it.

Update - a quick Google search on the area code turned up nothing when I posted this - how quickly data gets outdated...

Emails Show Extensive Collaboration Between EPA, Environmentalist Orgs

Internal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) emails show extensive collaboration between top agency officials and leading environmentalist groups, including overt efforts to coordinate messaging and pressure the fossil fuel industry.

The emails, obtained by the Energy and Environment Legal Institute (EELI) through a Freedom of Information Act lawsuit, could fuel an ongoing controversy over EPA policies that critics say are biased against traditional sources of energy.

Emails show EPA used official events to help environmentalist groups gather signatures for petitions on agency rulemaking, incorporated advance copies of letters drafted by those groups into official statements, and worked with environmentalists to publicly pressure executives of at least one energy company.

Apology time

Just finished "Unintimidated" by Scott Walker. Good read.

In it, Governor Walker describes how Democrat Senator Tim Cullen worked with him to get the "fleebaggers" to return to Wisconsin for the vote on stripping public unions of their power to demand wages and other benefits, and forcing them o pay a small part of their own retirement and health insurance costs.

I had labelled Cullen as a "fleebagger" when I heard of his going to Illinois with the other cowards, and incorrectly lumped him in with them. I was wrong.

So, Senator Cullen, my apologies.

Climate Change!

It's here!

The wind is whistling outside - 30 MPH or more. Reminds me of that night a while back when the almost-tornado tore the Internet tower down and put me off the air for a month.

At least the whole shop isn't moving around like that night, but the wind sure sounds like a bad thriller movie soundtrack.

Idiot drivers

Coming home through Rockford this afternoon, I saw a couple of real gems driving.

First was a Ford Escape Hybrid ahead of me at a light. Light turns green. 10 seconds later, the Escape's brake lights go off, and they slowly accelerate. To much less than the speed limit - and there was no snow- or traffic- related reason for driving at anything less than the limit.

On the rear bumper was an Obama '12 sticker. When traffic allowed, passed them - on the right, as they were in the left lane.

Next up was a small car - possibly one of those new Chevy Smart Car clones. Again, driving like they were leading a funeral, blocking traffic, making unsignaled lane changes for no apparent reason.

On the rear deck lid was an Obama '08 sticker. Got past that one as soon as possible.

Last up - going north on Il Rte 2, where it's four lanes one-way with left and right-turn only lanes at a light. I'm in the leftmost through lane. A woman driving a small Chevy makes a LEFT TURN into the northbound left turn lane, narrowly missing my front bumper. A couple blocks south, she must have figured out all the oncoming headlights might mean something, as she pulled a u-turn in the middle of the road and then made a left turn back onto the road she had just left. Saw all that in the rear-view.

Did not see any O stickers on that one, but wouldn't be surprised.

Glowbull worming is REAL!

This weekend, we are going to see -20 F lows, highs sub-zero into next week.

Hey Algore - I want a refund! Where's that blistering sun in January you promised?

It's WEATHER - not "climate change". We've seen stuff like this for centuries, and only started taking detailed measurements in the last hundred years or so. Not anywhere near enough data to make big decisions like shutting all our power plants down and creating more bureaucracy to regulate cow farts.

On the good news front - I've burned less than 1/3 of the wood I laid in. With the dead fall I've seen out back, I can build up at least this much wood for NEXT winter over the new year easily.
