More gun free zones

Actually, more free-fire zones for the nutcases. Just heard this on the radio:

The city council in Whitewater, Wisconsin has just enacted a concealed carry ban in all city buildings. $300 fine if you are caught.

I am sure the possible loss of $300 will deter the next nutcase who wants his own personal shooting gallery.

A nice state law might be allowing citizens to sue "gun free zones" for injuries suffered if there is a shooting on those premises...

Goodbye CRP?

The only federal program we participate in voluntarily is Conservation Reserve Program, a set-aside where farmers allow prairie grass and flowers to grow, removing invasive species, and doing regular prairie burns. We inherited the land contract when we bought this place. It pays a small amount every year, not enough to cover the costs in time and materials we spend to maintain the fields - but my wife likes the flowers and butterflies they attract, and has become quite the botanist in the last few years.

It might be that CRP will be going away:
++++++++++++++++

Obama calls for $33 billion cut in farm programs

President Barack Obama’s plan for deficit reduction would cut $33 billion from farm programs, taking a highly disproportionate amount of federal spending reductions from one of its smallest line items and perhaps stymieing Congress’ efforts to write a workable 2012 farm bill.The agriculture proposals outlined included:

•Eliminating the direct payment.
•Reducing federal government assistance to crop insurance companies and farmers Using crop insurance – reductions that would come on top of $12 billion in cuts to that important program since 2008.
•Reducing conservation spending by $2 billion over 10 years.
•Extending until 2016 the SURE disaster assistance program, which has no money allocated to it after this fiscal year.

++++++++++++++++
Typical Demonrat "spending cut" - find something insignificant in the big picture that will cause the most pain to the people, and then complain if the Republicans say anything negative about it.

We will continue maintaining our fields even if CRP ends. It's a good thing for the wildlife - a resource we may end up tapping ("illegally") if the economy keeps on tanking - and our land is not really amenable to actual crops, economically. We could grow a couple acres of truck farm, for ourselves and a small farm stand, but no "big" crops like corn or soybeans.

Speaking of Osama

ATTACK WATCH!!!

If I don't call you

is what his email was titled:
++++++++++++++++
Chuck --

I enjoy talking about fundraising deadlines as much as I imagine you enjoy hearing about them.

But this Friday's deadline is important.

It's a chance for us to prove how we're different from any campaign in politics: We rely on ordinary Americans giving what they can -- one grassroots donation at a time.

This is not just a campaign. It's a chance for each of us as citizens to organize and change the course of history.

And before we close the books this Friday at midnight, I hope you'll become a part of it.

Please donate $3 or more today.

I'll be calling some grassroots donors like you by phone this week, so I can say thank you.

And if I don't call you, there's a chance I'll see you at dinner with three other supporters sometime soon.

Even if I don't get to thank you personally, every single donation counts:

http://my.democrats.org/Friday-Deadline

Thanks for doing your part,

Barack

It's nice to be on a first-name basis with such a historic screw-up. I wonder if he will actually call, since I have helped him SO much so far!

No, REALLY the end of the world as we know it.
Copied from an anonymous email, but research says it came from here.

A Sobering Article!

There is nothing political about this email.  It simply points out very probable changes that are in our future.

CHANGES ARE COMING ----

Whether these changes are good or bad depends in part on how we adapt to them.  But, ready or not, here they come.

A good discussion of where deindustrialization is taking us. 99.999% due to overweening government regulation and micromanagement, with a heaping helping of union activism thrown in.

Note from Nancy Pee-Lousy

Madam Ex-Speaker begs now:

Chuck --

Enough is enough.

For the third time in 10 months, House Republicans pushed our government to the brink of a shutdown to put their radical agenda ahead of the American people’s interests.

While Democrats worked to secure disaster relief funding, House Republicans insisted on holding these critical funds hostage in a cynical ploy to advance their agenda.

It’s never been clearer why we need a Democratic House Majority. We cannot afford another two years with a Republican Majority that recklessly brings us to the brink of a government shutdown unless their radical ideological demands are met.

Friday’s FEC filing deadline is only 72 hours away and we are still $171,984 away from our $1 Million grassroots goal. It is critical that we have a powerful showing of grassroots strength.

Please contribute $3 or more right now and a group of committed Democrats will triple-match your gift. Help us show the world House Democrats’ people-powered movement is strong and united against Republicans’ dangerous political games.

September 30th marks the date we must report our fundraising totals to the Federal Election Commission and the world will use those totals to judge our support and strength. This is the first deadline since President Obama introduced the American Jobs Act -- we must show Democrats are united and strong.

Your generous contribution will be put to use immediately. We are launching a grassroots campaign to ensure voters nationwide know the truth about House Republicans who resort to cynical stunts and ploys to push their radical agenda.

Please contribute right now to help us reach our goal before Midnight Friday >>

Nancy Pelosi

I guess Nancy hasn't noticed that the House she is supposedly a member of has passed various budget bills in the recent past, only to have those radical Demonrats refuse to pass on them.

Must have her head too far up Osama's ass to notice what's going on without her.

U.S. Government Used Taxpayer Funds to Buy, Sell Weapons During 'Fast and Furious,' Documents Show

Published September 26, 2011
| FoxNews.com

Not only did U.S. officials approve, allow and assist in the sale of more than 2,000 guns to the Sinaloa cartel -- the federal government used taxpayer money to buy semi-automatic weapons, sold them to criminals and then watched as the guns disappeared.

This disclosure, revealed in documents obtained by Fox News, could undermine the Department of Justice's previous defense that Operation Fast and Furious was a "botched" operation where agents simply "lost track" of weapons as they were transferred from one illegal buyer to another. Instead, it heightens the culpability of the federal government as Mexico, according to sources, has opened two criminal investigations into the operation that flooded their country with illegal weapons.

And who is the leader of the government?

Truman had that desk plaque that said "The buck stops here". Osama has one that says 'It's BUSH'S Fault!"

Chicago follies

More madness from what once was the City of Big Shoulders...

Chicago given many painful ways to escape budget mess

City income tax, Lake Shore Drive tolls, higher ambulance fees among options suggested by inspector general

As Mayor Rahm Emanuel prepares to present his first budget next month, Chicago Inspector General Joseph Ferguson is tossing out dozens of ways to raise more money and cut the size of city government.

Many of them are politically poisonous: a city income tax, tolls on Lake Shore Drive, higher ambulance fees. Others could conceivably gain traction: making garbage pickup more efficient, cutting layers of management and making all city employees work 40 hours a week.

++++++++++++++++

A city income tax. Drive more productive people out.

Tolls on LSD - let's spend a couple million to redo the streets for toll booths that won't ever be paid for.

Higher ambulance fees - what are people paying property taxes for, anyway?

Efficient and unions go together like Barack Osama and patriotic.

Cutting layers of management? Where do all those sons-in-law and uncles go?

Rahm Emanuel is beginning to see what a clusterf**k Daley's Machine has left. How long before he start blaming Bush?

Coca-Cola chief criticises US tax rules

Coca-Cola now sees the US becoming a less friendly business environment than China, its chief executive has revealed, citing political gridlock and an antiquated tax structure as reasons its home market has become less competitive.

Muhtar Kent, Coke’s chief executive, said “in many respects” it was easier doing business in China, which he likened to a well-managed company. “You have a one-stop shop in terms of the Chinese foreign investment agency and local governments are fighting for investment with each other,” he told the Financial Times.

USSA DOJ Website Update

Got a "chain letter" email from a friend.

For years, the US Department of Justice had a red, white, and blue banner at the top of their web site.

Well, times change:

+++++++++++++++++++++++

The United States Department of Justice

+++++++++++++++++++++++
The black background certainly reflects the general national mood these days.

The quote is supposed to be by C. Wilfred Jenks, a noted socialist of the 1930's who was big on international law.

According to this site, it's by Hartley Burr Alexander, one of the Department of Justice building's architects.

Socialist conspiracy theories aside, one of the main links on the DOJ page is "Defending the Affordable Health Care Act" - OsamaCare, in other words. The DOJ is giving this un-Constitutional law priority and lots of manpower with all the lawsuits aimed at its' repeal. Quote:

The Affordable Care Act was enacted on March 23, 2010. This comprehensive health care reform law makes health insurance affordable for millions of Americans and protects them against potentially catastrophic medical expenses. This law has become the subject of several lawsuits challenging the constitutionality of the provision requiring Americans who can afford it to maintain basic health insurance coverage. The Department is vigorously defending the law in these cases.
 Funny -  they wouldn't spend a cent on enforcing the widely popular Defense of Marriage act, but millions for the defense of an unpopular law that will at the minimum bankrupt our country while condemning millions to an early death and suffering while they wait in Socialist queues for substandard care.

Rule one, also.

Repeat after me:
  1. All guns are always loaded!
  2. Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy!
  3. Keep your finger off the trigger until your sights are on the target!
  4. Always be sure of your target!

Health reform lawsuit appears headed for Supreme Court

The Obama administration chose not to ask the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals to re-hear a pivotal health reform case Monday, signaling that it’s going to ask the Supreme Court to decide whether President Barack Obama’s health reform law is constitutional.

The move puts the Supreme Court in the difficult position of having to decide whether to take the highly politically charged case in the middle of the presidential election.

+++++++++++++++++

I don't see the difficulty - either it's lawful, or it's not. If the Supreme Court rules this is Constitutional, though, I see trouble on the horizon.

Found this ad on Ebay for a "DENTAL PORTABLE MOBILE X- RAY MACHINE". Here's a clip of the ad image:

What is "Green" X-ray Machine

This updated model X-ray Machine combines the advantages of similar products. It eliminates the shortcomings of the on-frequency X-ray machine (high current intensity and excess amounts of scrap x-rays). Note the spelling errors, stilted grammar, and interesting specifications like
  • Adjustable KV (revolutions per minute of engine) and MA
I always thought RPM was the acronym for engine speed. What are "scrap X-rays", anyway?

And WHAT is a  Toshiba 0.3x0.3 micro-focus spherical kinescope ?

Would you buy one of these for use on humans - or lab rats, for that matter? I'll bet it lasts less than a month under normal use.

Starting price was US $254.99

Chuck --

There’s something in their tea.

That’s the only explanation I can think of to explain the bizarre babblings of Tea Party Republicans.

And the rants of these global-warming-denying, Social-Security-cutting, clean-air-hating, job-cutting, Wall-Street-protecting tea party types would be funny if it weren’t for one thing:

Money. Lots of it.

Backed by millions of dollars raised by Karl Rove and the Koch brothers, what would pass for a cheap side show at a flea-bitten circus has become a dangerous political force that threatens the very future of our country.

That’s why I’m asking you to drop whatever you’re doing right now and support Democrats’ $1 Million Rapid Response Action Fund before the big FEC deadline hits.

Contribute $3 or more before Friday's critical FEC fundraising deadline hits and help Democrats stand up to the Tea Party Republicans and take back the House Majority in 2012. House Democrats will triple match your gift!

This FEC deadline is a huge milestone in the House Democrats' 2012 campaign plan. Hitting this $1 million goal is absolutely critical to their plans to take the fight to Tea Party Republicans and counter the massive funding provided by Rove and his billionaire buddies.

The amount of money Democrats raise will also be interpreted by the Washington media as an indication of the strength of grassroots Democrats and whether we can mount a serious campaign against Tea Party Republicans. We’ve got to have a strong showing.

Contribute $3 or more before Friday's critical FEC fundraising deadline and help Democrats stand up to the Tea Party Republicans and take back the House Majority in 2012.

Don’t leave this email without joining House Democrats in this fight.

Every dollar you give goes right back out the door to help take the fight right to Tea Party Republicans on their home turf with targeted advertising, grassroots organizing, and rapid response research.

What hypocrisy.  Money is what makes Demonrats run. Social Security is going to explode regardless of any tax increases, Demonrats have steadfastly defended job-killing regulations and taxes, and outlawing asthma inhalers sure will help keep the air clean.

Wasn't it the Demonrats in CONgress who gave Wall Street all that stimulus money? I know they didn't act alone, but they were not holding back.

Herman Cain on OsamaCare

Herman Cain: Obamacare Would Have Killed Me

Herman Cain wins GOP Florida straw poll; Rick Perry in second place

By Seth McLaughlin
ORLANDO, Fla. — Former Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain won the Presidency 5 straw poll here Saturday, delivering a blow to Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s front-runner status and a victory for a candidate who has struggled to transform his grass-roots popularity into strong showings in national polls.

“Tonight’s winner is Herman Cain,” Florida Gov. Rick Scott announced. “It shows you something: The road to the White House comes through Florida, and it pays to spend time here.”

Mr. Cain received 37 percent of the more than 2,600 votes cast.

Green waste of money

It's almost like Mother Gaea wants to make fools of these greenies. Seems like every big meeting gets rained or snowed out while they try to convince us of "glowbull worming".

$100,000 for big doll houses with very expensive roofs that will need replacement every 20 years or so, not to mention what happens if there's a hailstorm or big winds.

Oh, and the roofs don't generate at night, or during cloudy days, or if covered with snow, or if you let them get dirty. The roof pictured in the article produces a whopping 8 kW on a bright sunny day - enough to run a typical home's lighting and appliances, unless you have a washer and dryer and A/C, and you use your lights during the sunny day. If you want lights at NIGHT, you need a huge bank of batteries, either those eco-friendly lead-acid units that weigh 200 pounds each and need replacement every ten years or so, or some of those wunderbar new lithium cells, which cost 10 times what lead-acid does for the same capacity, and rely on places like China for the rare elements inside.

Seems like they made a missstatement - "
Chu has reason to be hopeful that the competition pays off" - shouldn't that be "Chu has reason to pray that the competition pays off" after his department wasted $100K per contestant?

Forgot -  under Osama, it's how much you can get to your supporters, not whether or not they do anything that helps America with the money...

Solar Decathlon's Rainy Start

3:08 PM, Sep 23, 2011 • By DANIEL HALPER
The Department of Energy's Solar Decathlon kicked off today in Washington on the National Mall, under inauspiciously dark rainy skies. In a press release announcing the competition, Department of Energy Secretary Steven Chu is quoted as saying, "The Solar Decathlon collegiate teams are showing how clean energy products and efficient building design can help families and businesses reduce energy use and save money...The event challenges talented students to become pioneers of clean energy technology and helps ensure that out nation remains competitive in the workforce of tomorrow."

Chu has reason to be hopeful that the competition pays off: The Department of Energy gives a $100,000 grant to each team just to participate in the Solar Decathlon, in addition to all the other costs of hosting and producing the competition. (Some of the other costs are offset by the myriad sponsors--from Lowe's to Pepco.)

Clinton: ‘There Is Not A Single Solitary Example’ Of A Country That Has Succeeded With A Tea Party Philosophy

You know, there’s not a single solitary example on the planet, not one, of a country that is successful because the economy has triumphed over the government and choked it off and driven the tax rates to zero, driven the regulations to nonexistent and abolished all government programs, except for defense, so people in my income group never have to pay a nickel to see a cow jump over the moon. There is no example of a successful country that looks like that.
++++++++++++++++

There has never been a single solitary example of a socialist society that has not crashed and burned. Not one.

Socialism has been tried innumerable times. What has not been tried is minimal government. Perhaps, until now.
