Update on the Milwaukee Aldi incident

The citizen is still disarmed.

Greetings in Freedom,

I would like to take this opportunity to update you on the status of the effort to get the Milwaukee Police Department to release the firearm that the legally armed citizen used in the Aldi's store in Milwaukee to dispatch an armed robber.

First, thank you to the thousands of you who emailed and called the Milwaukee Mayor and Common Council members who sit on the Public Safety committee.  Your voice was heard.

The Public Safety Committee met subsequent to your emails and phone calls and were briefed by the Milwaukee Police Department on the status of the gun being held.  UNFORNTUNATELY, the Milwaukee Police Department continues to take the vague position that the gun is "evidence".  Wisconsin Carry vehemently disagrees.

After your emails and phone calls, the Milwaukee Police Department made a posting on their Facebook page:  http://www.facebook.com/milwaukeepolice

In that posting they had a memo from Alderman Puente who sits on the Public Safety Committee who said the police had briefed him and the gun was needed as evidence because a bullet was removed from the leg of the armed robber.  THIS STATEMENT CONFLICTS WHAT THE DETECTIVES ON THE SCENE told the armed citizen the night of the robbery.  Detective Reaves told the armed citizen that "the bullet passed through" the robbers leg. Therefore, the only way to tie the robber the scene of the crime is not the connection between the gun and bullet, but the bullet and the robber. If the bullet was recovered from the wall of the store and contained the robbers DNA that would tie the robber to the scene with physical evidence (as would any blood on the floor, the shotgun the robber dropped and left behind) and also the video surveillance and dozens of eye witnesses.  The gun of the armed citizens provides no forensic connection to the robber since the bullet passed through.  The bullet would make a connection if it contained DNA.  Wisconsin Carry is not asking the police to release the bullet (if recovered from the store).

I responded to the facebook posting asking Alderman Puente to CONFIRM that the police told him a bullet was removed from the leg of the robber and at that point, the facebook posting was REMOVED by the Milwaukee Police Department.

Did MPD misrepresent the truth to the public safety committee?

Wisconsin Carry believes the police cannot articulate a logical reason how the gun the armed citizen used can be used to connect the robber to the scene but they are misleading or being intentionally vague in their claim that "the gun is evidence".  A claim that cannot be supported by the facts we have.

Please contact Alderman Puente and ask him if his statement on MPD facebook page that "a bullet was removed from the robbers leg" was true.  Ald. Robert W. Puente, Vice Chair (414) 286-2221 E-mail rpuent@milwaukee.gov

Even if that was true (which our information from Detective Reaves on the night of the robbery contradicts) the police could test fire Nazir's gun for ballistics confirmation, photograph it, and return it to him.

We believe this represents a continued pattern of MPD confiscating even legally owned guns that were not involved in any crime and doing everything they can to avoid returning them to the law-abiding citizens who own them violating their 4th amendment civil rights.

Below is the original press-release and email message.  Please continue to contact the members of the public safety committee and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and ask them to demand MPD articulate a reason why a law-abiding citizens gun is not being returned to him.

-------------------------------------------------------

Wisconsin Carry, Inc. issued the following press release a few minutes ago:
-------------
For Immediate release:

On January 30th, 2012 a law-abiding Wisconsin concealed carry license holder, Nazir Al-mujaahid, used his sidearm to shoot a shotgun-wielding armed robber who had entered a north-side Aldi's grocery store in Milwaukee and threatened the cashier and customers. As is standard protocol, the armed citizen's holster, gun, and ammunition were taken into evidence by the Milwaukee Police Department.

A few days later the Milwaukee District Attorney's office cleared the armed citizen of any wrong-doing and declared the shooting justified.

Despite being exonerated by the DA, making repeated attempts to obtain the return of his firearm from Milwaukee Police, and sending a letter to the DA's office requesting assistance in the return of his property, Mr. Al-Mujaahid's gun remains in Police possession.

Wisconsin Carry, Inc. has observed what appears to be a pattern of civil-rights infringing behavior from the Milwaukee Police Department. The Milwaukee Police Department appears to have a practice of concocting baseless reasons to seize any and all guns they come across in the City - even when those guns have never been used in connection with a crime. The Police Department also appears to have a practice of refusing to return firearms or unduly delaying the return of firearms that were seized incident to an arrest despite the fact that no charges were brought or when the gun owner is exonerated by the court system.

WCI believes that these acts by the Milwaukee Police Department represent violations to law-abiding citizens constitutionally guaranteed right to be free from illegal seizures of their private property and their Constitutionally recognized right to keep and bear arms.

As Wisconsin Carry considers whether legal action against the City of Milwaukee is justified or required to correct this apparent illegal and immoral behavior, we call on the Milwaukee Police Department to return Mr. Al-Majaahid's gun to him without delay.

(end or press release)
-------------------------------

Today Wisconsin Carry would ask that our members begin making contact with the Milwaukee Common Council and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett and demand that they take action and have MPD return Nazir's gun to him to prevent Milwaukee from exposing itself to possible litigation from Wisconsin Carry, Inc. Milwaukee just paid a settlement to Wisconsin Carry this past fall that the Common Council had to approve because of MPD's actions and refusal to return property to a citizen who was cleared of any wrongdoing yet his gun never returned. They should be familiar with our organization and our propensity NOT to make idle suggestions of filing litigation against the city.

Ask Mayor Tom Barrett and the members of Common Council Public Safety to side with the law-abiding citizen who defended himself and others from a shotgun-wielding thug and implore Milwaukee Police to return the "Aldi's armed citizen", Nazir's gun to him immediately.

Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett:

Comments from downstate

Chicago is not Illinois:
++++++++++++

From the Staff: Law-abiding gun owners of Illinois deserve better

Having lived from the southern tip of Lake Michigan to the Hub of the Universe, I can honestly say I love Illinois and (most) of its people.

I drove to my hometown the other day for a celebration of my mom’s 88th birthday. As I dropped down the hill to take the back way into Spring Valley (Bureau County), I grinned.

I could see the bottomlands from where, when flooded, we took bullheads by the dozens. I knew on the other side a certain line of trees flowed the Illinois River, where we fished, boated and skied. And on the few beaches with some decent sand, there may have been a party or two.

I could practically see where my high school friends and I — without dogs or with someone’s mutt — chased pheasant, quail and rabbit. When my next-door neighbor got a purebred beagle, our quality of life skyrocketed.

My late father’s people are farm people from Ireland. Perhaps I have some unreasonable, romantic attachment to land and water. But when I see a farm field, I see the footsteps of my brothers. I can tell you which can make a pair of rubber boots last forever and which cannot wear rubber boots; he just doesn’t have the ankles for it. My thoughts drift to Labs and goldens and setters — all good, loyal and loving family — now passed.

I love this land. But today I am a bit resentful and $750 poorer.

The money? I bumped my life membership in the NRA up to “endowment” level and applied for life membership in the Illinois State Rifle Association.

Perhaps I should have done both long ago. I was an off-again, on-again NRA annual member until I lived in the Chicago area. There, the private skeet and trap clubs generally require NRA membership to join.

Then, seeing the annual legislative proposals — the sponsors of which wouldn’t know a buttstock from a bore — coming out of Chicago, I took advantage of a half-price offer and joined the NRA for life. The NRA doesn’t always thrill me, but it’s one of the only options out there for those of us who want to keep shooting.

Redneck? Gun nut? Please, I just don’t have time for it.

I learned shooting and gun safety from officers of the Illinois Department of Conservation (when it was called that); my dad, a World War II vet who was a gunner’s mate on a PT boat; and my brothers, who got their early instruction the same way I did. Later, I would take instruction from police range masters, NRA instructors and finally earn my own NRA instructor credentials.

I have vowed to retake the courses and regain my expired instructor credentials. More time, travel and payout are ahead.

Why? In a few words, liberal Chicago Democrats.

Here’s what hit my button lately: Mayor Rahm Emanuel’s proposed mandatory handgun registration (at $65 per gun) and a bill by Rep. Kelly Cassidy, D-Chicago, that would levy a 2 percent surcharge on all ammunition sales.

Good commentary.

There's an old saying - that there is Chicago, north of I-80 and east of Route 47, and Illinois.

Unfortunately, there are enough Demonrats in and around Chicago, that, combined with the illegal and graveyard voters, can control what goes on in Springfield most of the time.

Osama's got em:

Conservative Writer

In January, President Obama nixed the Keystone XL pipeline, which “would have carried as much as 830,000 barrels of oil a day from Alberta, Canada, and the Bakken Shale formation in North Dakota and Montana along a 1,661-mile path to Texas refineries.” Since that time, the price of gasoline has approached $5 a gallon in many parts of the country, yet Obama has criticized Republicans for trying to make the price of gas into an election-year issue.

As a matter of fact, on the same day that per-gallon prices for gasoline in Florida approached $6, Obama ridiculed conservative calls for more domestic oil production as a simplistic “bumper sticker plan” for cheaper gas prices.

But things changed on February 27, when TransCanada, the Canadian company behind the Keystone pipeline, announced that it was going ahead with construction of a segment of the pipeline that will stretch from Port Arthur, Texas to Cushing, Oklahoma. Sensing the outrage that the American people were feeling over gas prices and realizing that the construction of a portion of the pipeline is sure to highlight how Obama is standing in the way of the construction of the rest of it, Obama spokesman Jay Carney suddenly offered a new explanation for why the pipeline had been nixed to begin with: “The reason why the Keystone XL required the review that it did is because it crossed … an international boundary.”

In unrelated, yet related, news, Obama’s Department of Justice recently oversaw a program (Operation Fast and Furious) that allowed 2,500 guns to cross an international boundary. It appears the administration had no qualms about that. And just last week, news broke regarding what may be a second gun-walking program. This one appears to have allowed guns tied to the murder of Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent Jaime Zapata to cross the international boundary into Mexico.

So here’s where we are, folks: For the Obama administration, guns crossing an international boundary is one thing, but crude oil crossing such a boundary is quite another.
+++++++++++++++
Osama wants to "wean us off fossil fuels", so no pipeline. He alsp wants to wean us off the Constitution, and he can't do that while a large proportion of Americans are armed, and the several states are actively working to increase both that proportion and make gun ownership a common thing, not thought about, so he attempts to set up straw men in order to undermine the Second Amendment.

Once he's got us all driving Smart cars, if we are rich, or riding good green bicycles in the old Communist Chinese way, and we are all disarmed or tied up in so many regulations that we can't afford the tools of freedom or their diet, then will come Agenda 21, post-birth abortion and euthanasia of the crippled and old, and, of course, full-blown Osamacare to whittle down the population to "sustainable" levels.

12 states on path to guns with no permits

Legislatures in a dozen states are considering laws that would eliminate requirements that residents obtain permits to carry concealed weapons.

Gun-control advocates view the efforts as part of a long-range strategy to eventually weaken gun laws across the country. But supporters say armed, law-abiding citizens prevent crime.

Andrew Arulanandam, policy director for the National Rifle Association's Institute for Legislative Action, which supports these legislative efforts, argues that crime rates are low in four states — Alaska, Arizona, Vermont and Wyoming — that already allow residents to carry without a permit. "Our viewpoint is, a good person will always be a good person," he said. "They don't need a license to be a good person."

Brian Malte, the director of state legislation for the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence argues the permitless systems put law enforcement officers in a bad situation when they encounter someone with a weapon, and he's critical of efforts that would allow people who have never even shot a firearm to carry one in public.

"They want a gun in every nook and cranny in society with no permission needed and no background check," Malte said, adding, "This is just a recipe for disaster."
+++++++++++++
As usual, the Brady Bunch pops up with the tired old "blood in the streets" argument that has been proven false again and again. As if the people who cause all the trouble would follow yet another stupid rule.

The law - the Constitution - allows for no such thing as "gun control". More and more states are recognizing that fact. The federal government won't release their grip on the power - and money - that all the illegal federal laws generate - as long as our CONgress is under the control of liberals.

Money quote:
In New Hampshire, Republican Rep. J.R. Hoell's bill has cleared the House. Hoell points to the recent school shooting in Chardon, Ohio, as a failure of gun control. "Gun-free zones kill people," he said.

What if Osama gets re-elected and makes good on his promise to eviscerate the Second Amendment? He will have opportunities to appoint Supreme Court justices and turn the court into his own rubber stamp, like his spiritual forebear FDR tried.

Rant

I'm pissed.

When I started my business in Wisconsin years ago, I got a sales tax account, since I could not buy anything from wholesalers unless I could show them my sales tax certificate.

The Department of Revenue wanted periodic filings of how much I collected. Since I had nothing in the way of sales, I kept reporting "$0". Finally, they revoked my certificate because I never had anything to file.

Now, it happens that I have an opportunity to actually sell some merchandise - and the wholesaler won't sell it to me unless I send them a copy of my sales tax certificate.

So, being a good citizen, I went to the Wisconsin Department of Revenue web site and tried to use their on-line registration to get the certificate. Doing it by mail takes up to 15 days, and my customer is impatient.

It asks me if I've registered my business - "yes", as I have an LLC.

I use my SSN as an ID. It accepts this.

Now, it wants to know my name. Put that in. Next, it asks if I am a "Disregarded Entity". What the f**k is that? The other choices are "Single Member of a Disregarded Entity" or "None of the Above". The first choice is greyed out.

"None of the Above". Click OK.

Now it wants to know which permits I want. The Seller's Permit, which is what I want, is greyed out. I should feel free to ask for permits to run a dry-cleaning business, though.

Back a step - select "Single Member of a Disregarded Entity".

Now, it wants my "FEIN". I have no employees, and have always used my SSN. The IRS is happy with that. Put in my SSN. It takes it. Put in my legal business name. Onward.

Again, it asks what permits I want. Seller's permit is now un-greyed. Select that. Now, I get a check mark in the box for other permits I don't need. Onward.

It wants to know about the "Disregarded Entity" now. The choices are "account in single owner's name" - greyed out - and "account in LLC". So, select LLC.

Now it wants detail about where I have the shop. Fill out all the blanks, including telling them I don't live in special tax areas or run limousines. Next.

Tell them I expect minimal sales. Next.

Now comes the fun. "Disregarded Entity" information. Immediately, I have a RED BOX! My SSN is not acceptable! There's a box for "Business or Individual". The first time through, it lets me deselect "Business" and I try to enter "Individual".

It automatically changes back to "Business", and puts that RED BOX back up. Now, I can't change anything. It won't allow me to proceed until I tell it my FEIN, which I don't have.

It won't let me ENTER an FEIN, even if I had one.

Wasted an hour f**king with this crap. Now I have to take time off a paying job tomorrow to call their phone number and wait for a human.

This is why I am an anarchist.

Truth Team
Friend --

When we first launched the Truth Team site, I asked you to write back with your thoughts. Many of you sent some great feedback on how we can work together to set the record straight. One thing stood out: You want to see the Truth Team on Facebook.

So this week, I'm excited to introduce you to the Truth Team Facebook page. You'll find content from our site right on your newsfeed, and you'll be able to get the word out in real time as we post new items. We'll continue working to make the Truth Team as effective as possible. And remember, you're always welcome to drop me a line with your suggestions at truthteam@barackobama.com.

Now, here's this week's tipsheet -- take a look, and arm yourself with the facts.

#1 WOMEN'S HEALTH CAN BE "MORALLY OBJECTIONABLE"?
Thursday, the Senate voted down a bill that would have allowed employers to deny women coverage for birth control and any "objectionable" medical service, possibly even flu shots. Senators Roy Blunt and Marco Rubio's amendment would have allowed any employer -- not religious institutions, because they are already exempt -- to make this call on behalf of their female employees. That means a woman's boss at a restaurant, retail store, law firm or anywhere would have control over what health care she could receive. After an hour during which he was on the record opposed to it, Mitt Romney said, in typical flip flop fashion, "Of course I support that amendment." Of course he does. And we can thank him for paving the way -- he also said he would have supported a "personhood" amendment in Massachusetts, which could have banned abortion in any circumstance, some contraception, and even fertility treatments like IVF. Get the facts out:

#2 WHY THE GOP THINKS GAS PRICES ARE HIGH
The truth is, there's no silver bullet that can bring gas prices down. But according to Indiana Governor Mitch Daniels, "The doubling of gas prices ... is a conscious policy of this administration." That's an imaginary plot spread by our opponents that contradicts the facts: Under President Obama's leadership, our dependence on foreign oil reached a 16-year low, and the toughest-ever fuel economy standards will save Americans $8,000 per car by 2025. Share what the President has accomplished to lessen the pain at the pump:

#3 ROMNEY'S MIDDLE-CLASS TAX CUT CLAIM
This week, Mitt Romney said: "[President Obama] also promised he'd cut taxes for middle-income Americans. Hasn't done that, either." But just days ago, President Obama signed the Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2012, extending the payroll tax cut, and giving working Americans a total of $110 billion in tax relief. That's about $1,000 in working families' pockets this year. And that's not even the beginning of the tax relief middle-class families have seen. For some contrast: Romney's own tax plan mainly involves showering tax cuts on the wealthiest Americans, but barely anything for the middle class. Don't let this lie gain traction while flying under the radar:

#4 TAX FAIRNESS: INFOGRAPHIC
Check out this new infographic showing how a typical American couple pays a higher tax rate than millionaires. President Obama's Buffett Rule would close the tax loopholes that make this possible, and ask the wealthiest Americans to pay their fair share -- something many are glad to do. Share the infographic:

As Senator Blunt said this week, right after his over-reaching amendment failed in the Senate: This fight is far from over. And with Super Tuesday coming right up, Republican candidates will be on the spot to court their Tea Party base, so here's to having all the facts on hand.

Thanks,

Stephanie

P.S. -- Infamous oil profiteers Charles and David Koch claim that their front group, "Americans for Prosperity," is made up of "tens of thousands of folks" from "all walks of life." So campaign manager Jim Messina wrote the Kochs a letter with one request: Prove it by actually disclosing your donors. You can add your name to Messina's letter here.

Let's analyze these bits of propaganda.

#1 - Ignoring the Constitution to force people to pay for what they consider evil. The straw man about flu shots is a nice touch.

#2 - Gas prices are high because we don't allow construction of new refineries, exploration in areas known to have large reserves of easily-gotten oil, governmental regulations, taxes, and the fact that we export more than we import - not to mention the fact that Osama's EPA head has stated he wants "European gas prices" here in America, and Osama himself told us that energy prices "would necessarily skyrocket" under his reign.

#3 - If a "middle class tax cut" is forcing the middle class to pay ever more for food and energy, I guess Osama's Demonrats have delivered a huge tax cut. Taxes on corporations are never paid by those corporations - they get passed on to us peons as higher prices.

How much of Osama's crap has been "under the radar" - at his own public admission?

#4 - Is it fair that huge Osama donor General Electric paid almost nothing in taxes last year?

PS - How about the fact that Osama's campaign has accepted anonymous donations from people like George Soros and other foreign sources? An awful lot of "$3 grassroots donations" from Soros puppets add up to millions. The Koch brothers got their money from people buying products they made possible. What have Osama and his Demonrats made possible except creeping poverty?

Is White Space Super Wifi Dangerous?

September 24, 2010.  If you think the electrosmog from cell towers is bad in some cities, you should be very concerned about White Spaces. In this article, I will try to give you a heads up to what is about to happen to our airwaves and it causes me extreme concern.

When the FCC and the CRTC decided to licence the radio spectrum frequencies for cell phone transmission towers, large telecom providers such as Sprint, Bell and Rogers paid billions of dollars to these licensing organizations so they could put up cell phone towers just about anywhere in the country.
On September 23, a day that I predict will go down in infamy,  the FCC agreed to open up a large band of now unused TV spectrum for digital data communications for Super WiFi. It’s called White Space TV BAND spectrum. It’s free and mostly unregulated. Many years ago the FCC forced the TV broadcasters to simultaneously transmit digital TV signals over the air and discontinue the use of their traditional analogue broadcast frequencies and towers. (Channels 2-69).  The TV broadcasters fought to keep control of this analogue spectrum so they could continue to broadcast to people that had TV aerials and older TVs not capable of receiving digital TV signals. They worried about interference from future White Space devices. But I have a suspicion that they are worried about much more than that.

Currently the available “White Space “ frequencies are widely scattered in the radio spectrum because they’re located in the empty space between existing digital television channels. Adding to the complexity, white space devices such as Super WiFI transmission towers won’t be allowed to interfere with television broadcasts or other licensed uses. The result could be that such Super WiFI devices are limited by their geography.

You need a licence to be a cell phone provider and to erect a cell tower. You won’t need a licence with Super WiFi.

Super WiFi devices that use White Space TV Band frequencies will use unlicensed frequencies. Currently, if you are a cell phone provider, you must register and get approvals for cell tower positioning. This will not be required for White Space devices. Although the FCC has initially limited the power output to fixed bace stations to 4 watts, this is well over the current 100 milliwatt power limit used in home model WiFi bace stations. Imagine the mis-use if they are haphazardly installed by uninformed IT departments or even the general public.

From her site biography:
Magda Havas is Associate Professor of Environmental & Resource Studies at Trent University where she teaches and does research on the biological effects of environmental contaminants. Dr. Havas received her Ph.D. from the University of Toronto, completed Post-Doctoral research at Cornell University, and taught at the University of Toronto before going to Trent University in Peterborough, Canada.
No mention of WHAT her degree was in - but I can be certain it wasn't in electrical engineering, medicine, or physics.

She seems to assume "licenced" radio operation is somehow less dangerous than Part 15 unlicensed operation.

Digital signals are digital signals, whether they come from a home WiFi hot spot transmitting less than a watt of average power, or from your local DTV transmitter pumping out 50 kW on a "licenced" channel. Pulsed waveforms in either case. Data.

Four watts from a "bace station" - you would think a PhD would know how to either proofread or used Spell Check - is still well below anything that could possibly hurt you unless you surgically insert the feed into your body and draw an RF arc somehow. If you do that, you are duplicating the medical procedure called electrocautery, used millions of times a year to remove warts and seal bleeders during surgery. If exposure to RF was somehow causing all her "electro-smog" illnesses, shouldn't we see a higher incidence of them among people who had this procedure?

Another quote:
Instead of TV analogue frequencies that are used for television in the 54-698 MHz range, these White Space devices will now use PULSED DIGITAL waveforms which are highly biologically active that have been proved to be harmful. WiFi currently uses PULSED DIGITAL on higher 2.4 gigahertz frequencies that cannot penetrate thick concrete at long distances and thus you get a slow speed connection resembling dial up. By using the lower TV frequency spectrum (54-698) MHz as a carrier wave, the PULSED DIGITAL WiFi signal will now be able to penetrate obstructions such as buildings over great distances and deliver high speed broadband data.
I love the scare font. Notice that there's no reference to WHO "proved" those waveforms to be "highly biologically active". A link would be nice.

DTV channels use the self-same old analogue bands for their high-speed digital data - that's why NTSC video was discontinued. VHF channels are rare, but they do exist.

She obviously has never heard of skin effect - any frequency above a few kilohertz does not "penetrate" the body to any extent, since the human body is conductive. The higher the frequency, the less it penetrates. At 50 MHz, skin depth in copper is 4/10,000 of an inch. In the human body, it's still well under a thousandth of an inch. Higher frequencies are less penetrating.

What about heating effects like in a microwave oven (2.4 GHz), you ask? Well, the power levels are a little bit higher in an oven than you could ever reach with a WiFi base station - even a "super" one. There's also the fact that those frequencies resonate with water molecules, which is what actually does the heating.

The Chicken Littles now have another cause to rally around, while our leaders continue down the highway to hell. Another distraction from the real world. Another Luddite attempt to keep people from enjoying the true promise of the Internet - free and instant dissemination of information.

Sex-Crazed Co-Eds Going Broke Buying Birth Control, Student Tells Pelosi Hearing Touting Freebie Mandate

A Georgetown co-ed told Rep. Nancy Pelosi’s hearing that the women in her law school program are having so much sex that they’re going broke, so you and I should pay for their birth control.

Speaking at a hearing held by Pelosi to tout Pres. Obama’s mandate that virtually every health insurance plan cover the full cost of contraception and abortion-inducing products, Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke said that it’s too expensive to have sex in law school without mandated insurance coverage.

Apparently, four out of every ten co-eds are having so much sex that it's hard to make ends meet if they have to pay for their own contraception, Fluke's research shows.

"Forty percent of the female students at Georgetown Law reported to us that they struggled financially as a result of this policy (Georgetown student insurance not covering contraception), Fluke reported.

They can afford to go to Georgetown and study law, but rubbers are too expensive.

Oh, damn - I forgot - rubbers are old-fashioned and only used by rednecks and such. College girls need stuff prescribed by doctors.

Unbelievable!

Democrats
Chuck --

This isn't the 1950s, it's 2012. Why we're debating a woman's access to birth control is beyond me.

Yesterday, the Senate voted down an attempt by the GOP to let employers opt out of providing any medical service they personally objected to -- but the bill was really drafted to let them opt out of covering contraception.

Of course, Democrats in the Senate stood strong.

But right after the vote, the bill's sponsor, Senator Roy Blunt, said, "I'm confident this issue is not over." House Speaker John Boehner immediately backed him up, saying, "It's important for us to win this issue," before hinting that he'd put it to a vote in the House.

This fight is definitely not over -- and we need to stand up for the women and men whose access to care would be denied if the GOP has their way.

Make sure we're ready for the next round. Chip in $5 or more to help Democrats fight back:

Hey, dipshit - we are NOT discussing a woman's "right" to birth control - we are discussing Osama and you Demonrats forcing people to act against their First Amendment guarantee of being able to worship as they please, and also whether Americans should be forced to pay for other people's birth control.

There is no right to see a doctor, regardless of what you "feel". In America, you have the option of working and getting paid, and paying for insurance or a doctor, or asking for charity from one of the many private organizations that offer help to the indigent.

You have no right to eat, or have a roof over your head at public expense, either. All you have is un-Constitutional laws providing "entitlements" to certain groups of people.

Have Demonrats got an obsession with Koch?

They sure like to talk about Koch all the time.

It used to be Karl Rove - I guess they realized people were getting tired of the repetition.

If You Use Georgia Pacific Paper Products, Barack Obama Wants You To Turn Yourself In

Georgia-Pacific makes a lot of household paper products. Quilted Northern toilet paper, Angel Soft toilet paper, Brawny paper towels, Dixie cups, Vanity Fair napkins, etc. If you use any of them, Barack Obama wants you to report yourself to the government. No, I’m not making this up.
On twitter last night, whoever the idiot is who runs the President’s twitter feed (I assume it is not him), put up this tweet reading:
Add your name to demand that the Koch brothers make their donors public: http://OFA.BO/mfLtZX
Now, I know the President is pretty clueless about the free market system, but I did not realize he was that clueless. The Koch Brothers make their money by providing goods and services within the free market. Their donors are actually customers buying products. That’s how they got their money. And in Barack Obama’s America, it is increasingly hard to do in the private sector.

In truth, I have no doubt the President really wants to target for harassment those people contributing to political groups organized by the Koch Brothers. You are willfully naive if you think that won’t happen. Look what happened to so many who contributed to Proposition 8 in California. Look at the labor union goons who show up at people’s houses to harass them and their families.

It is not disclosure the President wants. It is a list of names his supporters can intimidate and harass.
In the 2008 campaign, the President’s campaign intentionally turned off the safeguards to his online donations form — the safeguards used to make sure his campaign complied with federal law accepting campaign donations. Because those safeguard were out, foreign citizens outside the country were able to donate to the President’s campaign. Small donors are not disclosed.

If the President is serious about disclosure, perhaps the President should release the names of his small donors. We know John Galt of Ayn Rand Lane was one of his donors with no problem. Who else did so? Oh, some Palestinians in October of 2007 who donated from a refugee camp in Gaza. They weren’t caught until sometime around August of 2008 after 32 successful contributions.

The Obama campaign has had a storied history of returning contributions really, really slowly.

So, Mr. President — if you believe in transparency, given your campaign’s ridiculous history of allowing phony low dollar contributions from made up people, why don’t you realize all your low dollar donors before you start demanding the Koch Brothers release anything?
By the way, do we want to talk about foreign donors to labor unions?

(KMOV) – A controversial handgun registration bill is gaining steam at the Illinois State Capitol and a second bill may be passed which would increase taxes on ammunition.

The gun registration bill is supported by the mayors of Chicago and East St. Louis, but it was supposed to fail on arrival to Springfield.  It passed out of a committee this week.

Handgun owners tell News 4 that they see the registration bill and $20 feel mainly as a tax.

“I believe Illinois is trying to reinvent something the federal government already has in place,” Steven kind, owner of Metro Shooting Supplies in Belleville, said.  "The ATF already has a way to track any firearm that was legally purchased."

The bill is being pushed by Chicago legislators who blame illegally purchased weapons for its crime problem.

“A lot of people see this as an infringement on their rights,” East St. Louis Mayor Alvin Parks said.  “I don’t see it as an infringement.  I see it as an opportunity to get a handle on who really has a handgun.”

Video at the link.

Of course the mayor of the second nastiest place in Ill-Annoys doesn't see another useless, illegal law as an infringement on our basic rights. It's just a way of getting a handle on any law-abiding people left in the state who still own handguns.

Does this jerk think even one gang-banger or drug dealer is going to donate $20 per handgun to the state?

Isn't this illegal?

I thought lotteries like this had to be "no purchase required"...

Obama - Biden
Friend --

You probably don't know Janet from Accokeek, Maryland.

But you two could be having dinner with President Obama together sometime soon.

Janet was the first guest selected for the next Dinner with Barack. And we're counting down the hours until we draw the next name.

The second seat could be yours -- you'll be automatically entered when you donate $3 or whatever you can today.

Janet told us that when she donated $25 last week she was just trying to show her support for the President.

No one ever thinks they'll be picked until they are.

Take the chance. Chip in $3 or more today to be automatically entered:

Ill-Annoys hits a new low

Not satisfied to be the last holdout against self-defense and obeying the Constitution, yet another blatant infringement is imminent:

House panel approves handgun registration, ammo tax bills

From staff and wire reports

SPRINGFIELD -- Legislation that would require handguns to be registered and place a tax on ammunition was approved by an Illinois House committee Wednesday, despite opposition from gun-rights advocates.

Both bills -- touted as tools for improving the state's response to gun violence--passed 7-4 and now go to the House floor. The bills passed along party lines, with Democrats voting in favor and Republicans voting aginst. The metro-east's only legislator on the committee is Rep. Eddie Lee Jackson, D-East St. Louis.

The registration bill would impose a $20 fee for each handgun a person owns. The registration certificates, which owners would have to carry when in possession of a weapon, would expire every five years. Lost or stolen handguns would have to be reported to police.
  • Poll:
Is it a good idea for Illinois to add a 2 percent tax on ammunition?

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel recently called for a mandatory gun registration with a $65 fee. He and his allies have agreed to scale back the fee. Even at the lower level, Emanuel's Chief of Staff Felicia Davis said, a fee would pay for improving a background-checking system that has failed to process 100,000 mental health records.

Go vote in the poll there, while it's live.

Registering guns does absolutely nothing to fight crime, but it makes it REAL easy for tyrants to disarm the law-abiding.

My hope is that a large proportion of Illinois handgun owners are just going to ignore this un-Constitutional piece of crap, if it becomes law.
