For the last week or so the radio news has been talking about domestic violence. One of the churches in Beloit has their array of plywood silhouettes out representing victims of domestic violence.
Lots of talks on preventing violence. Being the cynic I am, I am sure that these lectures and meetings are going to prevent some drunk cretin from beating on his wife and kids, but at least people are trying to do something.
The WTF moment came with the news a couple minutes ago - the police decided, probably because of all the publicity, to stage a series of raids serving domestic violence warrants that evidently had been sitting around, ignored.
Perhaps the problem of domestic violence could be lessened if the police did NOT ignore things like this until the public outcry got loud?
WTF, indeed.

Out again
Voter ID is off again.
The Supreme Court ruled we can't require people to prove they are legal Wisconsin residents before they vote - no reason given, but likely because it's so close to the election that the unprepared could be "disenfranchised" because they were too stupid or lazy to get the ID required for any government assistance a couple years ago when the law was first passed, rather than hoping the courts would overturn the law. The law has only been delayed - as it is essentially identical to the so-far upheld Indiana law, I think after the election the matter will be settled once and for all.
In the meantime, will we see a landslide vote to return Wisconsin to the loving hands of the Demonrats and big taxes, big deficits, and "liberal: ideals? The Demonrats had no problem importing enough petition signers from out of state to get a recall election called...
