Stateline News - the local shopper paper - this time. The writer tells us to fight Keystone XL and stop burning fossil fuels in favor of "renewables".
Here's what I sent:
Loren Johnson of Elkhorn tells us that "climate change" is settled
science, and that we must stop a pipeline that will help us reduce our
dependence on foreign oil and provide thousands of jobs in a depressed
economy.
His "settled science" claim falls apart in the face of publication of
emails between "climate scientists" who conspired to cherry-pick their
data to "hide the decline" and produce scary "hockey stick" graphs that
enable people like Al Gore to become billionaires preying on the fear of
the uneducated.
Does he know that water vapor - which is always present in the
atmosphere at much higher levels than carbon dioxide, is a much more
potent greenhouse gas than CO2? Perhaps we should cap the lakes and
oceans first before we stop using fossil fuels.
I agree that we should someday phase out fossil fuels - when we have a
reliable, economically viable replacement for them. We have one clean,
reliable, and proven power source available right now. Nuclear power.
Too bad it's "politically incorrect" to even speak of it.
"Renewable fuels" will never replace oil, coal, and natural gas, even if
all the arable land on Earth was converted from food production to
bio-fuels. Our standard of living would return to that of the Middle
Ages - and our population would perforce need to be reduced to that
level to prevent mass starvation.
Like it or not, man is not responsible for "climate change".
