About time

Wisconsin City Police Refuse to Enforce Public Park Gun Ban

Video at the link.
…Chief Beguhn reviewed the local ordinance after Karenz’s complaint and found that the ordinance is no longer valid.
According to GunsSaveLives.net, the chief said the ordinance is invalid because of Wisconsin’s “preemption laws on firearms.” He has ordered signs banning guns to be taken down and pledged that he will not enforce the ban even while the signs are up.
Wisconsin Carry receives credit for bringing the Wisconsin “preemption” to everyone’s attention, and Chief Beguhn has followed up by choosing not to enforce an outdated ordinance.
People these days are brainwashed into being scared to death the moment they see some guy with a gun on his hip. I’m glad that this small city has a police chief that refuses to be ruled by people’s irrational emotions and fears over guns.
The woman quoted does not think guns should be around children - I guess she would object to the police being anywhere near her kids?

It's refreshing to see some of our sworn peace officers refuse to enforce a blatantly illegal law!

Open carry in Neenah, Wisconsin

Recently in Neenah, two guys were out for a walk, one carrying a rifle. Somewhat unusual in downtown Neenah, perhaps, but nothing to get all worked up over.

First we have the 911 call that triggered the incident:

And the dashcam from the responders:

The officer gets a bit wordy here, but he's got something of a point. PSH do fear people carrying weapons.

The solution is not to hide our weapons but to desensitize the public to regular carry. This should not be seen as am unusual situation.

This cop tells us that if he sees me "walk into a gas station" carrying, he's going to cap me. I guess I've been really lucky, since I've open carried into several Beloit gas stations - and never got a look, except for the clerk with the Middle Eastern accent who wanted me to show him my gun - I declined...

Open Carry

I did it today - first open carry off my property. Went to the local credit union to open an account for my son. No one said anything, or even appeared to be looking at me. Of course, I was not waving my hips around to attract attention.

Then, stopped at the local Marathon for some gas - pre-pay, so I went in and gave the clerk $20.

He noticed the gun - complimented me on it. Wanted me to draw it for a picture - I declined, telling him it wasn't a good idea to be playing with a gun like that.

He told me he's been in the USA for four years and mine was the first open-carry gun he's seen not on a police officer.

Glad to help raise awareness.

I've applied!

Just mailed off the application for my CCW to the Wisconsin Department of Justice. By law, they have no more than 45 days to process the application.

Now the waiting begins. Got to buy a couple of holsters. I'm thinking a James Bond style shoulder rig, and a good hip holster, since Wisconsin allows open carry and "flashing" a gun will not be as big a deal here as in some other states.

Any suggestions?

I should really get a good hip holster for my Model 29 with the 8 3/8" barrel - that's a good open carry weapon...

Remember the open-carry arrests in Madison?

Five guys arrested at a Madison Culver's for eating dinner in the presence of lefty-liberal pants-sh***ers...

Things have escalated - a federal lawsuit has been filed.

Interesting times.
