The View From Olympus: Chattanooga

Fourth Generation war visited Chattanooga last week at the cost of four Marines and one sailor dead. It was not the first instance of 4GW on American soil, and it will not be the last.
The killer was, again, Islamic. Islam is by no means the only non-state entity to which people may give their primary loyalty, but it is one of the more dangerous.
To diminish the risk of 4GW posed by Islam, we need to take two actions. The first is to stop Islamic immigration into this country, and not only Islamic immigration, but immigration by anyone who is likely to refuse to acculturate. All immigrants who refuse to become culturally American provide a base for 4GW.
The culturally Marxist Establishment insists on keeping the border open to such people because they help it attain its two main goals, first set by Gramsci in Italy and Lukacs in Hungary in l9l9, destroying Western culture and the Christian religion. Protecting ourselves from imported 4GW is “discrimination” in cultural Marxism’s vocabulary. In a 4GW world, any state that wants to survive will discriminate very carefully in terms of who it lets in.
YES. I've been of this opinion for a long time. If an "immigrant" does not want to become an American, he should leave after visiting our country, not expect us to change to suit him.

I need to repeat my mantra - discrimination is good - it allows you to tell good from evil. Laws prohibiting "discrimination" are stupid in the max.
The second action we need to take is to stop messing around in other peoples’ parts of the globe. So ong as we keep hitting them with drone and air strikes, they will try to hit us back on our own soil. What else should we expect? That war is waged only by one side? Here, the problem is not the cultural Marxists but people who call themselves “conservatives”. They are not. Desires to rule the world and cram Brave New World down everyone else’s throat are anti-conservative. At root they are nationalist, and nationalism arose on the left, not on the right. Russell Kirk was no friend of nationalism.
He goes on to discuss the "womanizing" of our country. This jives with my ideas of how to deal with Islamic extremists - though he's a bit nicer about it. I think we have nukes for just this kind of thing.
An America with a masculine culture would have replied to this and other incidents with what 4GW theory calls the “Hama model”. The President would have gone on television within a matter of hours to say to the nation, “As I am speaking, hundreds of American bombers are wiping the city of Raqqa off the map and killing every living thing in it. I warn all civilians in any other territory under the control of ISIS to flee. The same thing can happen to you.” Not only would this have hit ISIS hard physically, it would have deprived it of its base, a much more serious injury. If no civilians would remain in any area controlled by ISIS, ISIS could not function.

Now we know why Jugears wears "mom jeans" and a bike helmet...

HMMM...

Just got this from a friend. Good questions to sak yourself long before November.

When you vote for an incumbent you
are perpetuating our government as
it is now.  Nothing will change.

These three, short sentences tell you a
lot about the direction of our current
government and cultural
environment:

1.)
We are advised NOT to judge ALL Muslims
by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics.

Funny how that works. And here's another
one worth considering.

2.)

Seems we constantly hear about how Social Security is going to run out of money.

How come we never hear about welfare or
food stamps running out of money?
What's interesting is the first group "worked for"
their money, but the second didn't.

  Think about it.....
Last but not least:

3.)

Why are we cutting
benefits for our veterans, no pay raises
for our military and cutting our army to a level
lower than before WWII, but we are not
stopping payments to illegal aliens such
as monthly payments for each child, money for
housing, food stamps, free education
including college and also the right
to vote?

Am
I the only one missing something?
   If not, pass this along.

Obama admin looks to ban some Social Security recipients from owning guns

Video at the link.
The Obama administration wants to keep people collecting Social Security benefits from owning guns if it is determined they are unable to manage their own affairs, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The push, which could potentially affect millions whose monthly disability payments are handled by others, is intended to bring the Social Security Administration in line with laws that prevent gun sales to felons, drug addicts, immigrants in the United States illegally, and others, according to the paper.
The language of federal gun laws restricts ownership to people who are unable to manage their own affairs due to "marked subnormal intelligence, or mental illness, incompetency, condition, or disease” – which could potentially affect a large group within Social Security, the LA Times reported.
What do you expect from a born and bred Communist - he's using the same method of handling dissidents that his ideological homeland used - throw them into the loony bin.

Tractor follies

A couple weeks ago, the clutch started slipping badly in my Massey-Ferguson Super 90 tractor I use to mow firebreaks out back,

So - I split the tractor. Built up a couple supports out of concrete blocks and timbers, and put a metal plate on the support under the engine so I could use my big floor jack to move the engine away from the back of the tractor. My son Chris helped me roll the front wheels and guide the jack. Put a bottle jack under the engine to take the load off the floor jack.

Next thing I did was to drain the five gallons of Diesel fuel and oil out of the crankcase. The 300 CI Perkins is supposed to have seven quarts in the case. So, fuel lift pump leaking into the case. I hope I can find a rebuild kit, or a new pump assembly.

The clutch came apart with one broken bolt in the flywheel, and all the balls from the pilot bearing falling out when I removed the pressure plate. The throwout bearing is also noisy, so more parts to order.

There was a gallon or more oil in the clutch housing, so new crank seal, too.

Decided to top off the transmission while I was waiting for parts. The next morning, found a couple gallons of hydraulic oil on the floor. New seals on the pilot shaft and PTO shaft, too, and out comes the transmission. Easy job, if you have an engine hoist and a strong son to help.

Some photos:

Flywheel. Weighs about 80#. Drilled out the broken bolt and put in a Helicoil.

Parts on order. should have them next weekend.

‘THIS FLAG’S NOT RACIST’ – CONFEDERATE FLAG SUPPORTERS WELCOME OBAMA TO OKLAHOMA

As President Obama arrived at his Oklahoma City hotel last night, he was met by a group of several dozen people defiantly waving Confederate flags.

(photo via the Associated Press)
According to reports, the group was organized by Andrew Duncomb, an African-American supporter of the Confederate flag.
The Stars and Bars are a symbol of pride for many Americans.

Anniversary

Fifty years ago this month, the first combat troops left for Vietnam.

Vietnam 50th Anniversary Commemoration Begins

Thank a veteran.

Ready for Hitlary!

I was behind a Prius a couple days ago with a "Ready for Hillary" sticker on one side, and a "My kid is an honor student, and my governor is an idiot" sticker on the other side, and a UAW sticker in the back window.

So:

I think America has had enough of the Clintons.

And the Buses, for that matter.

Zero emissions?

News report: Janesville has just purchased an "electric motorcycle" so the police can patrol the bike trails without having to lose their doughnut guts.

The Madison reporter breathlessly described it as "silent, and it doesn't emit any carbon!"

Unless the Janesville Police Department has erected a wind / solar charging station for this thing, it either burbs coal, natural gas, or uses nuclear power. "Renewable" energy is still a bit player in our power grid, and will remain there for the foreseeable future.

Also, isn't there a law against using motor vehicles on the bike paths?

An officer interviewed said he has to use his horn or call out to avoid startling people biking or walking, since the thing is so quiet.

What's wrong with having police officers in shape enough to ride regular bicycles? I'm sure that motorcycle cost the people of Janesville a pretty penny - or the entire USA, if it was bought with a "grant" from the feds...

Thomas Sowell on slavery

Extremely good article:

A Legacy of Cliches

Discussions of racial problems almost invariably bring out the cliche of "a legacy of slavery." But anyone who is being serious, as distinguished from being political, would surely want to know if whatever he is talking about -- whether fatherless children, crime or whatever -- is in fact a legacy of slavery or of some of the many other things that have been done in the century and a half since slavery ended.
Another cliche that has come into vogue is that slavery is "America's original sin." The great Supreme Court justice Oliver Wendell Holmes said that a good catch phrase could stop thinking for fifty years. Catch phrases about slavery have stopped people from thinking, even longer than that.
Today the moral horror of slavery is so widely condemned that it is hard to realize that there were thousands of years when slavery was practiced around the world by people of virtually every race. Even the leading moral and religious thinkers in different societies accepted slavery as just a fact of life.
No one wanted to be a slave. But their rejection of slavery as a fate for themselves in no way meant that they were unwilling to enslave others. It was just not an issue -- until the 18th century, and then it became an issue only in Western civilization.

Go read the whole article. And eschew cliches!

Warning

The end may be near -

I hope you've prepared...

Chicgo - poster child for the success of gun control

The NRA has a very good video - here.

Rahm-it-to-em Emanuel wants more gun control, The proper solution would be to repeal ALL the illegal laws, and let the good people of Chicago take care of the problem as they encounter it.

He claims to be a Constitutional scholar...

but he acts like he's never heard of the document:

Obama Issues 19 Classified Directives Changing Laws Passed by Congress

No less than USA Today called attention to these secret orders in an article published on June 24. The article explained:

Of the 30 PPDs issued by Obama, 19 have not been released. And for 11 of those, the White House has not disclosed even the subject of the order.
"It's not only the public that doesn't have copies. It's also Congress that doesn't have copies," Aftergood said. "It's a domain of largely unchecked presidential authority. It doesn't mean it's bad, but it's lacking in independent oversight.”
But they have the same legal force as an executive order, forming a body of largely secret law, said Harold Relyea, a political scientist who advised Congress on national security directives before retiring from the Congressional Research Service.
"The difference is that while executive orders are public by law — they must be published in the Federal Register to be effective — PPDs are not," he said. "It is a kind of secret law. People have to obey it. But it's a directive that can allocate money, direct people or take a course of action.”

Not in the least surprised

Consider the source:

Millennials in San Diego sign petition to remove American flag

Millennials in San Diego signed a petition to ban and replace the American flag, as seen in a video published on Monday.
Mark Dice, a media analyst, started a fake petition that called for the removal of Old Glory and then filmed himself as he walked around San Diego asking young adults to sign it. Even with the approach of Fourth of July weekend, a surprising amount did.
"These millennials have been indoctrinated by their communist college professors, indoctrinated by the liberal media, poisoned by today's pop culture into really being ashamed of America and so afraid to be politically incorrect that … they are now willing to replace, ban the American flag, issue a new flag," Dice said on "Fox and Friends" on Tuesday.
Dice called the results "absolutely astounding," when more people than he expected readily took up the cause of his fake petition.
I suppose we should replace it with something like this:

Ever notice that the "gay rainbow" is missing indigo? Are they discriminating against colors some people are physically incapable of seeing?

Or this:

With all the schools banning wearing the flag, or even having a flag sticker on your car, and all the PC bullshit about "triggers", it was inevitable that these morons would be programmed to respond like this...

It's not even just a fake petition:

Although Dice's proposition was fake, he is not the only one who has requested the removal of the stars and stripes. Louis Farrakhan, Nation of Islam leader and civil rights activist, spoke in favor of taking down the American flag following the Charleston, S.C., church shooting.
"I don't know what the hell the fight is about over the Confederate flag. We need to put the American flag down because we've caught as much hell under that as the Confederate flag," said Farrakhan at the Metropolitan AME Church in Washington, a little less than a week ago.
Again, consider the source, but still - it got reported as real news.
