The Brady Bunch comes a-begging...

Just got this in one of those neat postage paid envelopes, and filled it out:
+++++++++++++

Notice how I mentioned the evil NRA? It's true - if I ever get rich, they - and a bunch of other gun organizations - will get a chunk of my estate.

 +++++++++++++
Probably wasted my ink. At least it costs 'em some postage.
I wonder if this will make them stop sending me more postage paid return envelopes?

At last!

He's going on his LAST campaign.
++++++++++
Chuck --

In a few days, I'll be hitting the trail for my last campaign.

Everything we've accomplished in the past three years -- and our chance to do so much more -- is on the line.

What we do today will be a measure of whether or not we're ready to fight for it.

Donate $3 or whatever you can before tonight's fundraising deadline.

By pitching in before midnight, you'll automatically be in the running to join me and George Clooney at his place on May 10th.

It's not often I can get away from work, so I look forward to spending a fun evening in L.A. with a couple supporters like you.

In the meantime, let's close out this deadline strong:

Thanks,

Barack

Any bets on this not lasting until early November - or when the next "deadline" comes up?

They keep raising the multiplier

Just got this:

Hi Chuck --

Boehner is scared. He actually admitted this week that the House is up for grabs.

But if we're serious about winning a Democratic House, we need to send a million dollar message to the Republicans, the media, and everyone else that we've got what it takes to win.

The FEC deadline hits in 24 hours. We're just $37K short. Can you chip in $3? It'll be triple-matched:

Exclusive - Indoctrination 101: Duncan Approves of Schools Teaching Protest

On Tuesday, EAGnews.org brought you footage of Black Star Project community organizer Phillip Jackson teaching students in Chicago Public Schools' Jones College Prep the finer points of non-violent protesting--and positioning the students to achieve a particular result.

On Wednesday, we brought you a shocking interview with the dean of the school, Grace Moody, who explained that students should be taught how to protest. She reasoned that with all their "teenage angst," students are going to protest something, so they might as well be taught how to protest effectively.

Moody also explained how Jones' "Social Justice Week" was the result of a botched "Gender Bender Day" earlier in the year.

Today, we bring you U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan's opinions on the matter.

See the EXCLUSIVE video interview here.

++++++++++++
Arne Duncan, US Secretary of Education speaking in  NYC:
EAGnews.org Producer: I wanted to get your comments on the introduction of non-violent protest training activism in the schools with the children, specifically taking children to protests and advocating for their own change in the educational system.

Arne Duncan: Thank you--that’s a great question. I think whether it’s, you know, children in elementary school, middle school, or high school, or college, getting our students engaged in the civic life of our country is hugely important. So getting young people engaged--protest being a part of it--but creating clubs, participating in service, giving back--not just being recipients of service but being the givers of service...The more our young people are actively engaged, I think the more we’re going to have a strong and vibrant democracy. And so, I think, having young people at the earliest ages doing things that are somehow non-traditional, I’m a big supporter of.
This kind of thing started after I graduated from Lane Tech and moved out of the city, evidently.

Bill in Congress could suspend your passport if you own taxes to the IRS

Written By Kenneth Schortgen Jr on Friday, March 23, 2012 | 11:35 AM

There is a new bill in Congress that is expected to pass that would allow the government to suspend your travel outside the country if you own taxes to the IRS.

Senate Bill 1813 (Highway trust fund), which was passed by the Senate last week and is now pending in the House of Representatives contains a provision that would allow the IRS to order the State Department to refuse to grant, refuse to renew, revoke or restrict the passport of any US citizen which the IRS certifies owes the IRS $50,000 or more in unpaid taxes. There is no requirement that the tax payer be guilty of or even charged with tax evasion, fraud, or any criminal offense - only that the citizen is alleged to owe the IRS back taxes of $50,000 or more.

With Capital Control measures expected to be implemented in 2013, which would force Americans to keep their money from going offshore, the laws being legislated are now affecting the average citizen far more than any action against terrorists, or in support of the 'War on Terror'. +++++++++++++++++++++
Pretty soon, owing the government $50K will be forgetting to pay a parking ticket, the way our dollar is diving.

S. 1813 is one of those big omnibus bills, mostly concerned with transportation and such. Haven't read it all yet, but will. Here's the PDF.

Buried on page 12 of 1200+. still in the table of contents, I found this:
Sec. 40304. Revocation or denial of passport in case of certain unpaid taxes.
Sec. 40305. 100 percent continuous levy on payments to Medicare providers
and suppliers.
Time to call your CONgresscritters, if they will listen to you, unlike my own dear Tammy Gay Baldwin...

Mad cow disease returns

When I first heard about this, I was sure it meant that either Hitlary had come back to the USA, or Moochelle had finally snapped...but it's just a sick bovine in California.

The radio said the USDA test 40,000 cows and cattle every year.

How many millions head of beef DON'T get checked? Government efficiency!

More chicken for me - it's cheaper, too.

Just now starting?

I was under the impression he's been campaigning non-stop since early February, 2009...

Obama - Biden Chuck --

Big news: In 10 days, President Obama is hitting the campaign trail.

On Saturday, May 5th, the President and First Lady Michelle Obama are holding the first two public rallies of the campaign in Columbus, Ohio, and Richmond, Virginia. He'll speak about how far we've come, and lay out the very real stakes in this election: Are we going to continue to move forward, rebuilding an economy that's meant to last, with a growing middle class and more Americans getting a fair shot? Or are we going to go back to the same failed policies that crashed our economy and left too many folks struggling to catch up? That's the choice.

These kinds of events are one of the hallmarks of this organization. Millions of people first came to know and support candidate Barack Obama in 2007 and 2008 when they met him at rallies and town halls in their communities. We're now entering the general election of his final campaign -- this day should be something pretty special.

The President would like two supporters from across the country and their guests to meet him backstage before he goes on at the first rally. Supporters like you are the core of this campaign -- so we're opening this up to anyone willing to sign up.

Right now, by signing up to receive important campaign updates on your phone, you will be automatically entered to join the President backstage.

What we're looking at right now is essentially the start of a general election. We've all but got our opponent. This is what we've been building for since we launched this campaign last April -- and we're ready to go.

I can tell you the President can't wait to get out there.

You really can't lose on this one: As part of our mobile community, you'll be sure to hear about events near you, when the President will be in your area, and other campaign news.

And signing up right now just might land you the chance to meet President Obama backstage before he starts firing folks up.

Want to be there with him? Sign up for text updates -- and be automatically entered for you and a guest to meet him backstage:

P.S. -- Even if you can't be there, you'll still be able see the first rally for yourself. We'll be streaming the event live on our site. Stay tuned for more information about that.

Book review

Got this from a friend - no link...

A THOUGHT FOR A SUNDAY…
By Massad Ayoob

In this recent incident, an aberration of society walked into a church in Spartanburg, raising a shotgun.

Fortunately, before mayhem could ensue, an armed parishioner took him at gunpoint. This was not what the violent intruder had come for; he surrendered, and a mass murder was averted.

These things don’t always have such happy endings. For a number of reasons, houses of worship are disproportionately likely to be the targets of mass murderers. Across the spectrum of the faiths, clergy and church management have taken to heart the words attributed to Jesus Christ: “If thou hast not a sword, sell thy cloak and buy one.” (Luke 22:36)

Yeah, it’s Sunday. Some of you are religious, some are not. I once gave that quote to a friend who happens to be an atheist, who replied with a puzzled look, “Whose screen name is Luke twenty-two thirty-six? What forums does he post on?” Well, if you don’t read the Bible, you’ll find the same principle in Ethics 101. There is such a thing as a responsibility to protect the innocent from evil. This is why so many houses of worship now provide discreet armed security for their members in attendance.

One such was Jeanne Assam, an ex-cop working volunteer security at the New Life Church in Colorado Springs, Colorado on December 9, 2007. In the wee hours of that morning, a crazed young man had shot multiple people at an affiliated church in a suburb of Denver. The same monster showed up at the Colorado Springs facility with an AR15, a couple of handguns, and a backpack with more than a thousand rounds of ammunition. He opened fire in the parking lot, killing two and wounding two more. Entering the church, he found himself facing Ms. Assam…and his own mortality.
Disregarding her own safety, Jeanne Assam moved in on the heavily armed gunman, firing her Beretta 92 FS with deadly accuracy, and cut him down in a hail of 9mm bullets. Some say that at the last moment he put a fatal bullet into himself, but that wouldn’t change the fact that he died only after Ms. Assam disabled him with multiple solid hits, and stopped a rampage that could have claimed dozens of lives.
We are a nation that seems driven to tear down its heroes, and Jeanne Assam became a target of the mainstream media and other forces thereafter. You can read her compelling story in her own words. Her book “God, the Gunman, and Me” is available for $14.99 plus $5.00 postage from http://www.jeanneassam.com/jeannes-book .

From the brave man in Spartanburg to the courageous lady in Colorado Springs, we have logical testament to the fact that if you’re going to refer to those folks in the pews as “the flock,” and their spiritual advisor as “the shepherd,” it makes a lot of sense to have some sheepdogs around, with good sharp fangs.

CCW holders an unknown group

Just as it should be. In the Beloit Daily News, a story Saturday about the announcement of the 100,000th license issued since November.

Since November 2011, when Wisconsin became the 49th state to allow its citizens to carry concealed firearms, the DOJ has received nearly 110,000 applications from hopeful carriers.

February appeared to be a particularly busy month. More than 15,800 handgun transfers were documented through the state’s handgun hotline that month.
What’s not known, however, is how many of those license carriers reside in any one particular county, village or city.
How many carriers live in Rock County? What about Beloit?
In short — no one knows.
“We do not track applications that way,” said Dana Brueck, a DOJ spokeswoman. “We’re prohibited by law. It’s within Act 35 itself.”
Tracking firearm ownership, whether the weapons be concealed or stowed at home, is intentionally difficult. That’s nothing new.
For instance, Beloit Police Chief Norm Jacobs cannot say how many gun owners live in Beloit. Rock County Sheriff Bob Spoden cannot quantify the number of firearms, legal or not, are in Rock County.
“There’s no way to know how many guns you actually have in your community,” Spoden said.
 As usual, I fired off a comment immediately:

Re: Will O'Brien's story on 4/21.

Secrecy is the whole point of concealed carry. The bad guys never know if their intended victim is capable of defending themselves with deadly force.

Several states and anti-freedom organizations have attempted to publicize the names and addresses of concealed carry permit holders and / or gun owners. They claim this is to promote "openness", but in reality it is just a ploy to intimidate persons who would obtain a defensive weapon and legal permission to carry for their own safety. Publishing the names and addresses of permit holders - or gun owners - is aiding and abetting burglaries and break-ins.

Many concealed carry permit holders are women who have had problems with stalkers or abusive relationships, and carry in self-defense because the police or a restraining order cannot protect them. Some are handicapped persons who cannot put up a physical struggle with a stronger attacker. Others live in areas where crime is rampant.

Some concealed carry permit holders are just interested in exercising their God-given right to self-defense, a right protected, not given, by our Constitution.

In any case, it's not concealed carry permittees that the police or the public should be worried about - it's the criminal who was carrying a weapon illegally years before legal concealed carry was ever discussed - the same person who will still be carrying regardless of any future law passed.

As far as knowing how many guns are in Rock County, that is the business of the residents of Rock County who own them, no one else.

Side note to those businesses with "no weapons" signs - do you really think that it's a good idea to tell everyone you are defenseless?

Warning label stupidity

Noticed this label on my brush hog while clearing off prairie grass and mud:

It is physically impossible to attach a 3-point tractor hitch without getting in close to it, and using your hands.

The whole tractor is a big rolling crush point.

Spring break!

I don't like the idea of dragging a politician's children into the light, but this is way too much:
++++++++++++

White House Admits to Asking News Agencies to Pull Malia Obama Vacation Story

Update: Rick Santorum has offered his thoughts on the issue. Hear them here.

The White House has admitted to telling news agencies to pull stories on Malia Obama visiting Mexico for spring break, Politico reports.

Kristina Schake, Communications Director to the First Lady, emailed Dylan Byers:
From the beginning of the administration, the White House has asked news outlets not to report on or photograph the Obama children when they are not with their parents and there is no vital news interest. We have reminded outlets of this request in order to protect the privacy and security of these girls.
The Blaze first noticed the disappearing stories Monday afternoon, when accounts of Malia and 12 friends visiting Oaxaca with 25 Secret Service agents mysteriously began turning into broken links.
However, in admitting to “reminding outlets” about not reporting on the Obama children when there is “no vital news interest,” the White House has also tacitly admitted that Malia is (or now maybe was) in Mexico for spring break. Additional evidence has surfaced confirming that. One site has published a photo of the Obamas going to church on Sunday. It notes that Malia is absent, and says that’s due to the Mexico trip:
++++++++++++
Video and more at the link.

It's not Malia's fault her father is what he is, so I feel sorry for her having him as a father. What she is learning from her family life is likely going to ruin her life someday, unless she learns on her own what real honest human beings are like.

This critter in the White House has performed so many overt acts of disrespect to both his office and the people and allies of the United States, as well as several overt acts of treason, that impeachment should be a given. Also conviction, and punishment.
